**As our**Principal Software Engineer,** you’ll support HID’s success by**:

- Exhibiting leadership and influence well beyond yourself, identifying big issues and opportunities in the technology and organization, and working across teams to create solutions to complex issues.
- Demonstrating technical leadership by acting as a technical lead for a large project group and providing extensive mentoring to junior and intermediate team members while maintaining deep individual contributions.
- Scoping, finding solutions, implementing, and launching complex projects with precision.
- Setting organizational standards and providing technical advice and decision-making that affects not only your business unit/function but other teams in the greater company.
- Researching and proposing new technologies, leveraging your broad understanding of the entire engineering function and detailed expertise in your area.
- Assisting large project groups in delivering complex projects, breaking down work into manageable milestones to ensure smooth progress.
- Identifying big issues and opportunities in the technology and organization and working across teams to create solutions to complex issues, thereby having a larger impact beyond your immediate projects/work.

**Your Experience and Background include**:

- Provides technical leadership for solving complex problems and all activities in support of the rapid release of new products to production.
- Demonstrates excellent analytical skills, advanced engineering experience.
- Use requirements to complete technical assessments and trade-off studies.
- Ability to innovate around requirements.
- Serve as a technical leader for major product development projects requiring significant innovation and technical challenges or multiple simultaneous projects.
- Responsible for ensuring that design activities are coordinated per the project needs.
- Identify areas of risk within the products’ development and guide proactive initiatives to mitigate that risk.
- An Engineering degree or equivalent and a minimum of 12 years of related experience
- Ability to effectively communicate in the English language, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical journals, specifications, international technical standards, etc.
- Familiar with operating systems, such as Windows, etc.
- Understands the tradeoffs between technical, analytical and product needs and leads peers/group to solutions that take all these needs into account.
- Identifies and proposes strategies around technical problems affecting their group, communicates standards and gets buy-in on solutions.
- Provides Technical advice and weighs in on technical decisions that impact other teams or the company at large.
- Provides extensive mentoring to junior and intermediate project team members.
