Energy Front Office Manager

**Missions et responsabilités** Job Summary**

**Main Activities / Responsibilities**

The activities entrusted to the Energy Front Office Manager will include:

- Migration towards financial hedging:

- Identify indices, perform necessary correlation testing with Treasury Middle/Back Office
- Establish forecasted volumes for each hedge portfolio
- Ensure Low-level documentation is in place for each entity and index to be hedged

Manage risk on commodities wherever financial indices exist for energy:

- Performing hedging operations for every energy markets with finance indices, after validation of main components (volume, price, maturity) by his/her supervisor
- Work only with counterparts validated by the group
- Ensure the most competitive price available in the market, compile offers proposed by counterparts
- Use adequate tools to compile/report the deals
- Ensure compliance with group policies and security of market transactions
- Participate actively to the Group energy hedging strategy, supervised by the Group Energy Purchasing Director, Energy Committee;
- Manage and develop cross competencies of people working in interface with financial energy hedging (treasury front, middle office, back office)

Manage the monthly reporting of the financial hedged positions:

- Analyze deal portfolio, to follow market risk components, to optimize operations, and to ensure that corrective actions are implemented
- Develop, create and adapt decision tools, reporting, and benchmarks to follow risks and performances
- Propose standards of reporting, explain results and variances, share information and communicate on key figures

Data management
- Collect all the necessary market data to ensure proper management of the energy portfolio;
- Propose hedging portfolio reporting on monthly basis.

Market Fundamentals:

- Follow the relevant markets and understand their fundamentals.
- Ensure the proper follow-up of the markets, compiling the relevant information from information platform (such as Bloomberg), from markets actors, consultants, forums etc;
- Share information with all relevant stakeholders, organize workshops with countries and plants to inform about market news and evolution

**Profil recherché**
Level of education / qualifications normally required:

- Finance or Engineer with MBA.

Specific work experience:

- Recognized experience in the same role in banks or electro intensive industry for at least 3-5 years.

Technical / functional skills:

- Very good understanding and knowledge of financial markets, hedging skills and financial instruments.
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong notions of trading technical analysis
- Able to design and implement robust processes
- Network within financial counterparties is a big plus

Behavioral competencies / Leadership and managerial abilities:

- Analytical, with a capacity to structure a synthesis
- Communication ability in multi-cultural environment.
- Rigorous, structured and organized to coordinate within multiple teams and buyers in countries
- Able to multitask
- Agility: able to be an integral part of both Purchasing and Treasury functions
- Transparent, with strong ethics
- Good sense of anticipation - proactive

Linguistic skills:

- Excellent English. One or more other European languages is a plus.

**Description additionnelle (contexte, évolution...)**
The Purchasing Department of the Saint-Gobain group represents a purchasing volume of more than 20 billion euros. It relies on a network of 1,000 buyers, spread over the group's 12 activities, located in 75 countries. The Central team (about 80 people) defines purchasing policies, select digital tools, lead and develop the purchasing community. The model is to have buyers directly integrated into the country P&Ls, or the product P&Ls.

The Energy Purchasing Department is a strategic category, representing nearly 2.5 billion in expenditure, mainly in gas and electricity for the group's 3,500 production and distribution sites. Energy commodity exposure is roughly 1.5 billion €, spread across multiple energies (gas, electricity) and different geographies. The Group is implementing a project to centralize the risk management related to these energy commodities, by setting up an Energy Front Office in collaboration with the Treasury team (DTF), in the true spirit of Saint-Gobain’s TEC (Trust Empowerment Collaboration) culture.
