**Lead HSE Design Engineer (F/M)**

The Business Division Project Operations specializes in the design and supply of process furnaces and modular units for our customers’ refineries and petrochemical sites.
Within this Business division is carried out the execution of the products, from design to start-up at customers.
The Engineering department is responsible for engineering studies on these projects as well as technical support for the development of new equipment sold by the company.

**MISSIONS**

Working in cross-functional engineering activities, the Lead HSE Design Engineer is responsible for the HSE Design discipline on one or more strategic projects and reports hierarchically to the Engineering Management and Digital Transformation responsible and functionally to the Project Engineering Manager on each assigned project.

As such, you will supervise and monitor HSE design studies on projects to ensure that all design activities carried out by Axens comply with customer HSE design requirements, the Axens HSE design standard and local regulations where applicable.
You will also be responsible for clarifying the interfaces of HSE design with other engineering disciplines.

Your main missions will be as follows:
Support for proposal teams in preparing responses to calls for tender
- Participate in the costing of projects in the proposal phase in collaboration with the departments concerned (proposal, project, engineering) on the HSE design activity
- Participate in the development of HSE Design execution scheme activities, define the subcontracting plan or internal works in collaboration with the departements concerned (proposal, project, process, engineering)

Project Execution
- Leads HSE Design studies on one or several projects like:

- Hazardous zone classification studies (ATEX, BLAST...).
- Passive, Active, Mobile Fire Protection Studies.
- Fire & Gas detection studies.
- Studies to protect against cryogenic leaks.
- Fire and safety protection, technical alignments and supplier monitoring.
- Environmental impact studies (waste management, discharges, air emission...)

Ensure production and quality of key technical deliverables, and efficient processing of customer feedback on HSE
Design activity
- Set the major technical choices for HSE discipline on projects.
- Deliver risk analysis (internal or external hazards).
- Participate in HSE review meetings (HAZID, HAZOP, SIL)
- Review of site and general installation plans
- Ensure that interfaces between engineering disciplines (including process), subcontractors, and the client of the project managerr engineering manager are consistent.

Management of external subcontracting on several projects
- Define the HSE Design technical content of the requirements.
- Manage the technical relationship with engineering subcontractors on the HSE Design discipline.
- Provide short/ medium assignments to engineering subcontractors, as required by the project

Continuous improvement, Training and product technology watch
- Ensure that return of experience effectively is taken into account on the projects to which he is assigned, and cascade into engineering processes and transform them into good practice at the level of the various engineering disciplines.
- Participate in actions to improve and structure the engineering department on HSE Design activities (standards, procedure, tools, qualification of subcontractors, interfaces..)
- Organize regular training to sensibilize engineering, process and projects employee to HSE Design discipline and Participate to HSE Design events (forum, seminar) in order to know the latest evolution of the HSE Design regulation, codes or international standards
