**You Are**:
You are a seasoned IT professional with a deep understanding of Unix systems, networking concepts, and virtualization. With a minimum of 2 years of experience, you are adept at troubleshooting and maintaining both hardware and software in a high-pressure environment. Your fluency in French allows you to communicate effectively with local and remote teams. You are detail-oriented, with a strong customer focus and the ability to solve problems independently. You thrive in a dynamic setting, continuously building your skills and contributing to a positive team spirit. Your technical proficiency is complemented by your ability to communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical personnel, making you a vital part of any IT team.

**What You’ll Be Doing**:

- Providing escalation technical support for Unix servers and desktop systems at local and remote locations.
- Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting desktop systems, workstations, and servers in a heterogeneous environment.
- Maintaining a monitoring system built around Nagios.
- Deploying and maintaining a virtualized server environment.
- Maintaining IT infrastructure based on a highly standardized environment.
- Assisting in the day-to-day support of the Unix server environment and network equipment.

- Ensuring the reliability and performance of Unix servers and desktop systems, critical to our engineering and R&D operations.
- Enhancing the efficiency of IT operations through effective troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software.
- Supporting the seamless operation of remote French offices, ensuring they are well-integrated into the broader IT infrastructure.
- Contributing to the stability and scalability of our virtualized server environment.
- Facilitating the success of various IT projects by providing technical support and expertise.

**What You’ll Need**:

- Fully proficient understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP) and networking skills.
- Proficiency with most flavors of Unix operating systems, including Linux and Solaris.
- General knowledge of job scheduling software such as Univa Grid Engine and IBM/Platform LSF.
- Thorough understanding of PC and server computer hardware with efficient troubleshooting techniques.
- Ability to write and understand scripts in PERL and Unix shells such as Bourne, Bash, or c-shell.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management and diverse personalities.
- Highly customer-focused, with the ability to work well under pressure in a constantly changing environment.
- Detail-oriented and committed to completing tasks correctly and on time.
