About BlaBlaCar Daily*
We’re looking for people to join our journey on BlaBlaCar Daily.
We are an independent business unit of about 25 people who are passionate about building the best commute carpooling solution. We are actively developing and testing the product in France, Belgium and Switzerland with thousands of daily carpoolers.
You will join a small team of engineers operating independently of other products at BlaBlaCar and owning the software development of the product. This includes matching of driver and passengers, carpool features, payment processing, and geolocation tracking. The current project goal is to iterate quickly and take over the commuting carpooling market. Our team is composed of experienced people that have worked on successful services before. The job provides a lot of opportunities to learn and grow.
**Your Mission**
We are looking for a backend software engineer to join us on the development of BlaBlaCar Daily. You will work on technical challenges and product feature developments from the early conception meetings, development and test strategy, to deployment in production, on-call, observability, and support. You will mainly work on backend features with occasional contributions to our frontend projects.

**Your responsibilities**
- Support and collaborate with other engineers on the team to develop our backend projects together
- Improve our matching algorithms to help drivers and passengers to better carpool together
- Adapt existing feature implementations to growing scalability challenges

**Qualifications**
- At least 2 years of experience with Python, Java, C#, or Go
- Familiar with databases; especially relational ones like PostgreSQL
- Computer science background (database design, algorithms and data structures, networking, abstractions, security)
- Ability to find the good balance between fast iterations and quality of delivery
- Ability to take a research problem from conception to production-ready for our users
- Fluent in English.

And it would be nice (not required) if you had:*
- Experience with OSRM or GraphHopper, and graph optimization algorithms
- Experience with developer tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and monitoring solutions
