- Design mechanical assemblies
- Define calculation assumptions (boundary conditions, loads, materials)
**Modelling and simulation**:
- Perform numerical simulations using dedicated software (ANSYS, LS-DYNA, ROBOT)
- Validate assemblies (static, fatigue, vibration, stability and impact methods) using the relevant design and construction codes (CODAP, RCC-M, Eurocodes)
- Perform seismic resistance analyses
**Optimisation**:
- Suggest improvements to reduce mechanical stress and costs
- Optimise designs based on performance criteria and applicable standards
**Validation and documentation**:
- Interpret results and prepare calculation reports
- Work with the design office to incorporate the results into the designs
- Ensure that designs comply with applicable standards and regulations
**Technical support**:
- Provide technical support to the design team
- Help solve technical problems during the prototyping and production phases
- Monitor design calculations performed by subcontractors and check calculation reports
**Your profile**
- You have a Master’s degree or equivalent qualification in mechanical engineering (or related field) and at least 5 years' experience of performing mechanical design calculations, ideally in a design office. Experience of civil engineering design calculations would be an asset.
- You are proficient in finite element analysis and mechanical simulation using ANSYS, as well as static, dynamic, fatigue, vibration and impact methods. You have a thorough knowledge of the standards and regulations in force and are familiar with CODAP, RCC-M and Eurocodes.
- You are meticulous and methodical, able to work independently, and have a proactive approach to proposing solutions.
