Telecommunication Technician

**Duties**:
Incumbent works in the Paris Telecom Service Center (TSC) and is solely responsible for all the daily maintenance, moves, adds, and changes of U.S. Mission in France CAA and non-CAA telephone systems and networks, along with the repair and maintenance for our Emergency Action Committee (EAC) and Marine Security Guard (MSG) radio networks. The incumbant is required to work unescorted in CAA space for all telephone and radio activities, including copper and fiber cabling for the Private Branch Exchange (PBX), routers, and switches. Ensures completion of all assigned telephone, cabling, and radio work within Mission France. Ensures adequate part stocks are maintained and in good working order, develops and maintains working relationships with numerous telecommunications vendors and suppliers, fosters rapport with all levels of Mission France staff, liaises with White House Communications Agency (WHCA), VIP, and CODEL visiting technical teams, updates technical skills and assists with Information Management Specialists (IMSs) and Information Management Technical Specialists (IMTSs) training.

**EXPERIENCE**: A minimum of 3 years of work experience at the journeymen level as a telephone technician or IT networking technician.

**JOB KNOWLEDGE**: Advanced knowledge of telephone switching and systems (e.g. Avaya, Cisco, etc.). Intermediate knowledge of telephone circuit engineering and wiring, electricity and electronics (analog and digital). Intermediate knowledge of computer systems and software, digital and analog switching, and good knowledge of telephone systems. Good knowledge of architectural, data electrical, plumbing and safety features in
floor plan views. Basic knowledge of mathematics and radio systems. Good knowledge of communications services vendors' technical staffs such as France Telecom, Orange, Colt, Completel, SFR, and others.

Completion of Secondary School is required.
- Evaluations:
**LANGUAGE (THIS WILL BE TESTED)**: English level III (Good Working Knowledge - Writing, Reading, Speaking) is required.

**SKILLS AND ABILITIES**:Ability to manage and prioritize daily workflow and projects, troubleshoot telephone, IT, electronics, perform technical control tasks, operate diagnostic equipment, manual and power tools. Ability to diplomatically engage with all personalities; good presentation skills.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
