The Holding owns 3 manufacturing sites and employs has over 500 peoples:
- Focal’s dedicated cabinet-making facility: Bourbon-Lancy, France
- Focal’s manufacturing site : La Talaudière Saint-Étienne, France
- Naim’s manufacturing site: Wiltshire, United Kingdom
Working within the Naim-Focal group research and development team, the Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for the mechanical design and development in New Products projects. The role requires working in a team environment and especially closely with the electronic engineers to integrate electronics and mechanical assemblies in the final product. The use of 3D CAD (Solidworks) is a major part of this role.
The role will encompass all areas of design, development and manufacturing. A broad understanding of different processes and media would advantageous. The role will offer a variety of engineering challenges and scope to develop new skills and practices.
**Y**our main duties and responsibilities will be:
- Study, design, prototyping, conformity control of mechanical parts;
- Drafting of mechanical design documentation (manufacturing drawings, assembly drawings, BOM, etc.);
- The drafting of technical documentation for the assembly of products Supply, stock monitoring, mechanical and electronical assembly of prototypes;
- Finding and monitoring suppliers;
- The definition of the specifications through discussions with the pre-sales, operations / support and product manager teams to propose appropriate solutions;
- Use of the appropriate tools such as FMEA/8D or PDCA;
- The continuous search for product improvements;
- An active contribution to technology watch and R&D work.
Your profile:
- Educated to Degree standard in Mechanical Engineering/Product Design;
- Up to 5 years Industry experience and a strong understanding of the requirements designing in plastics would be beneficial;
- Advanced 3D CAD skills in Solidworks;
- The job-holder should possess a strong technical ability and a keen knowledge of manufacturing processes, with the necessary skills to turn concepts into products for manufacture;
- As the role involves working within a team of dedicated engineers and a constant interaction with all of Naim’s internal departments, the job-holder should be a team player and work comfortably within this type of environment;
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
