**Overview**
- Are you looking for an exciting opportunity at the heart of an ambitious fusion energy project? Join us as a **Nuclear Safety Integration Section leader** where you will:
- **Oversee a team of nuclear safety engineers** dedicated to defining and implementing the necessary requirements to ensure the protection of individuals and the environment.
- **Develop a comprehensive safety demonstration** that address the risks associated with both routine operations and hypothetical accidental scenarios, focusing on their potential impact on nuclear safety functions, individuals, and the environment.
- **Coordinate the preparation of licensing files** for the ITER fusion facility and actively engage in the various safety milestones of ITER, including those related to licensing.
- **Foster a strong culture of transparency and nuclear safety** within the ITER Organization and its Domestic Agencies, emphasizing the importance of nuclear safety in all aspects of the organization's operations.
- You will be leading the Nuclear Safety Integration team, focused on the engineering of safety and environmental provisions needed for ensuring the safety of ITER fusion facility, licensed as a nuclear facility. The section is embedded in the Central Integration Division, whose mission is to act as a general architect by integrating physical, function and safety requirements for the benefits of the ITER fusion objectives, and by participating to the licensing process of ITER facility._
**Key Duties & Responsibilities**
**Primary Responsibilities**:
- Leads the section performing licensing technical coordination as well as nuclear safety, radiation protection and environment engineering, and provides technical leadership in those topics, integrating the safety engineering among all ITER design, construction, commissioning and operation requirements;
- Ensures compliance with the French regulatory framework and international safety standards, meeting the agreed schedule for responses to the regulators’ demands in a satisfactory manner;
- Proposes safety engineering solutions optimized for fusion technology, prepares convincing cases and follows up with the French regulatory framework;
- Leads and coordinates the technical licensing files (e.g. safety reports, impact study) ensuring their agreement by French Safety Authorities with regards to the relevant aspects of the safety case, whilst maintaining safety, quality, schedule and cost requirements in line with the Project Baseline.
- Maintains trustworthy, up-to-date information out of the project management tools, and providing adequate reports to the hierarchical management line.
**Additional Responsibilities**:
- Supports the management in matters related to all safety engineering or licensing topics and ensures an effective communication to all stakeholders;
- Establishes and coordinates in close collaboration with the Construction Project and Systems Engineering units, the evolution of defined requirements and the design for the systems needed to ensure a high level of safety and low environmental impact with regards to French and national safety standards; such as: shielding, confinement, fire protection, explosion prevention, detritiation, effluent/waste, support systems;
- Coordinates the R&D associated to the safety risks of a fusion facility;
- Develops and maintains methodologies and knowledge of safety & regulatory requirements and provides training in the nuclear safety risks via a diffusion of the nuclear safety culture to all stakehol
