Internship (6 Months) - Battery Materials Analysis

**We are looking for**:

- A 6-month intern (M2 or engineering school) to start up a new elemental analysis technique - LIBS (Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy - for the Battery Materials analysis lab in our La Rochelle Development Center (France).
- The intern will be in charge of installing the device and exploring its possibilities for the analysis of various products and raw materials. Significantly, the missions will be the following:

- Literature survey on the technique and other elemental analysis techniques
- Installation and start-up of the device in the lab
- Definition of operating protocol and maintenance plan
- Define and qualify the analysis methods, from sample preparation to data treatment.
- Evaluate the accuracy of the measurements and conduct a comparison study with other techniques (e.g. ICP-OES or XRF)

**We count on you for**:

- Ensure the start-up of the equipment: installation, training (supported by the supplier), documentation, and definition of operating protocol and maintenance plans.
- Develop, qualify, and implement analytical methods for quality control, including cross-checking studies with other Solvay sites.
- Ensure the analysis of samples produced by the pilot plants and raw materials.

**You will bring**:

- A master's degree in an engineering school in analytical chemistry.
- Basic knowledge of elemental analysis techniques applied to inorganic materials: LIBS, XRF, ICP-OES/MS
- A taste for working in a lab.
- Strong HSE culture.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluency in French and English are required
- Open-mindedness and collaborative mindset
- Proactivity, dynamic mindset, curiosity and creativity

**Additional information**:

- The work will be done in close collaboration with the analysis lab’s team in La Rochelle, as well as with the supplier of the device and Solvay’s expert analytical team based in Lyon.
