**Duties**:
The Mailroom Clerk receives, dispatches, sorts, and distributes mail from multiple sources.
These include but are not limited to local and international mail, Diplomatic Post Office (DPO) mail, diplomatic pouch material, commercial courier services, and classified pouch.
The incumbent spends a large percentage of the time with classified pouch operations (e.g., coordinate with Diplomatic Classified Pouch arrival personnel, processing all classified pouch,
delivery to all Cleared American Department of State and other agencies as required).
The incumbent acts as diplomatic escort and is responsible for the security of all incoming and outgoing classified, courier escorted material and oversees the receipt, sorting, and
distribution of all incoming and outgoing classified pouches.
The incumbent spends time serving customers at the Mailroom service window.

Successful completion of high school or local equivalent, is required.

**LANGUAGE (THIS WILL BE TESTED)**: English level (W/R/S): III (Good Working Knowledge) is required.
**SKILLS AND ABILITIES(THESE MAY BE TESTED)**:Must have user knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Must be able to lift 70 pounds.

Department mandated safe driving training. Must have a valid driver's license (Permis B) or US. Equivalent

HIRING PREFERENCE ORDER:

- IMPORTANT: Applicants who claim status as a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran must submit a copy of their most recent DD-214 (“Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty”), equivalent documentation, or certification. A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant. The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service. Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
**This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
