Role Summary

Type:

100% volunteer, unpaid

Hours & Time Off:

Up to 25 hours/week; flexibility required; two fixed days off per week

Location:

Arusha, Tanzania (open to international applicants)

Start / Travel Needs:

January 2026 (travel timing may vary; shorter stays, staggered rotations, and remote collaboration before/after the field period are possible). We recruit traveling volunteers year-round; our current priority is candidates who can travel
between January and May 2026

Commitment:

Minimum 1 month (ideally 3 months)

Language:

Proficiency in English is required.

Costs:

Approx.
€300/month

for accommodation, food, and local transport.
No fees

are charged by the NGO for this role. Flights and visa are at your own expense. Subject to grant approval, accommodation may be covered (reducing your monthly costs). Tanzania's cost of living is low compared to Europe, and affordable flight options are available.

Position Overview

VfAW is seeking a volunteer with experience working with children to support our education and community-outreach programs in Tanzania. This role focuses on raising awareness about animal welfare, compassion, and responsible care through interactive teaching, creative learning, and local engagement.

Main Tasks

• Deliver interactive lessons

on animal welfare and empathy in schools and community centers.
- Co-create learning materials

(activities, worksheets, visuals) adapted to local contexts and ages.
- Lead outreach activities

(talks, clubs, parent/community sessions) to extend learning beyond the classroom.
- Coordinate with local partners

(teachers, NGOs, community leaders) to align and strengthen humane-education efforts.
- Support event organization

(logistics, setup, facilitation, feedback collection) for in-person activities.
- Track participation and feedback

to help us improve curricula and measure impact.
