We are a
young startup
operating in the
vacuum and ultra-high vacuum (UHV)
field, developing
custom sample transfer and sample preparation processes/equipment
. We are looking for a
Mechanical Design Engineer
to join our team and contribute from concept to prototype, with hands-on involvement in
prototype assembly
and
industrialization
.

French is not required
— English is sufficient.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies (3D CAD, drawings, tolerancing).
  • Create solutions compatible with vacuum/UHV constraints: materials selection, surface finishes/coatings, sealing concepts, interfaces.
  • Support prototype manufacturing: supplier follow-up, incoming inspection, adjustments and iterations.
  • Assemble and integrate prototypes
    (hands-on build, debugging, design improvements).
  • Drive
    industrialization
    activities: documentation, standardization, assembly methods, supplier selection, reliability improvements.
  • Produce technical documentation (drawings, BOMs, technical files, procedures).
  • Collaborate closely with the team and external partners/subcontractors.

Profile

  • Engineering degree (or Master's) in
    Mechanical Engineering / Mechanical Design
    .
  • Proficiency with a CAD tool (SolidWorks / CATIA / Creo / Inventor or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of GD&T/tolerancing, materials, manufacturing processes, and design-for-assembly.
  • Rigorous, practical, proactive mindset; comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment.

Nice to have (not mandatory):

  • Experience in
    vacuum/UHV
    (outgassing, material compatibility, sealing, CF/KF hardware, coatings, friction/tribology).
  • Experience with prototyping, integration, and supplier/manufacturing follow-up.
  • Exposure to precision systems (mechatronics, thermal, vibration, tribology).
