More recently, we are working on innovation with the creation of a technological expertise hub around the Snowdrop engine pipeline, for which we are focusing firstly on engine and graphics topics.

Job Description

The Narrative Designer is responsible for creating and integrating coherent and immersive narrative experiences within the game. They define how the story, gameplay, systems, and level design interact to deliver an engaging player experience. The Narrative Designer works closely with the game design & level design, writing, art direction, and production teams.

Main Missions : 

  • Interpret and realize the Directors' creative vision, translating high-level narrative intentions into engaging, playable content.
  • Collaborate with Level Designers and Environment Artists to design playable content that delivers compelling narrative experiences.
  • Work closely with writers to develop the game's narrative arc and integrate storytelling seamlessly into gameplay.
  • Partner with Audio Designers to craft ambient soundscapes and audio cues that enhance narrative immersion.
  • Support the Game Design team by ensuring gameplay systems and features are contextualized within the logic and lore of the game world.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for the Montréal teams to streamline communication and align narrative intentions across studios.
  • Design and write all narrative elements, including scripts, environment descriptions, and guidelines related to the game's overall atmosphere.
Qualifications
  • Excellent understanding of game design fundamentals and processes
  • Understanding of narrative elements across genres and media
  • Exceptional written and oral language skills
  • Good knowledge of the game production pipeline
  • Ability to collaborate, and respond to feedback/notes in a mature and timely manner
  • Organizational skills
  • Adaptability to development changes
  • Fluency in English is essential
