Are you an expert in metrology, metallurgy, and quality systems? This leadership role offers the opportunity to manage advanced laboratory operations, support product integrity, and drive continuous improvement across manufacturing processes.
Your Mission
As the Metrology & Metallurgical Laboratories Manager, you'll oversee the planning, supervision, and performance of both metrology and metallurgical labs. You'll ensure compliance with customer specifications, support quality initiatives, and lead a skilled technical team.
Key responsibilities include:
Metrology Laboratory
- Plan and coordinate metrology lab activities
- Define measurement methods and equipment based on operational needs
- Oversee equipment maintenance and calibration
- Ensure product inspections meet customer specifications
Metallurgical Laboratory
- Schedule and manage lab activities
- Maintain operational readiness of lab equipment
- Conduct product testing in line with customer requirements
Quality Systems & Methods
- Manage documentation and customer portal submissions
- Approve procedures, instructions, and forms for production and development projects
- Ensure alignment between documented processes and field practices
- Lead VDA 6.3 audits and FMEA analyses
- Support other sites in resolving product quality issues
- Contribute to the implementation of process control systems and tiered audits
Continuous Improvement
- Follow up on non-conformities and corrective actions
- Prevent recurrence through proactive measures
- Maintain and update departmental documentation
- Participate in resolving internal and external quality issues
Team Leadership
- Participate in recruitment and performance reviews
- Organize and lead team meetings
- Develop team skills in collaboration with HR
- Promote team recognition and manage performance indicators
- Oversee departmental expenses and salary reviews
- Foster a culture of initiative, collaboration, and improvement
What You Bring
You're a detail-oriented leader with strong technical and managerial capabilities.
You should have:
- Proven experience in metrology and metallurgical lab management
- Strong understanding of quality systems and customer standards
- Familiarity with VDA 6.3, FMEA, and process control systems
- Ability to lead audits and manage documentation across multiple platforms
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Experience managing technical teams and driving performance
