As a
Sustainable
Aviation Fuel (SAF) Optimization Intern,
you will be at the crossroads of SAF production, policy, logistics, data, and strategy — turning complex global SAF networks and regulations into actionable market opportunities.
Working closely with the CEO and analytical teams, you will help shape how ATOBA leverages international SAF mandates and incentive schemes, combining these with production sites opportunities, and customer networks to optimize the overall SAF costs and emissions.
In this role, you will build and maintain a global database of regulatory and economic frameworks, integrate Production and logistics networks, connect it to airlines' operational networks, and identify the most cost and environmental effective supply strategies. Your insights will directly influence the company's positioning and the decisions of our airline and supplier partners.
Are you passionate about connecting and optimizing networks, data, regulation, to accelerate aviation's energy transition? If so, this role is for you.
About ATOBA Energy
ATOBA energy is on a path to becoming the new power house of sustainable aviation fuel. We are transforming the sustainable aviation fuel ecosystem by providing long-term and short term SAF contracts at optimized market pricing. We serve as the critical midstream link between SAF producers, airlines and corporations, solving the challenges of financing, scaling, and operational alignment to unlock the full potential of SAF for aviation decarbonization.
The SAF market is at a pivotal point, requiring exponential growth to meet global climate targets. By 2050, the market is projected to grow from $2B to $400B+. ATOBA is leading the charge by addressing the misaligned expectations between producers and airlines, enabling a scalable, financially viable SAF ecosystem.
What You Will Do
You'll be at the core of ATOBA's data and optimization intelligence efforts, turning global policy signals, production, logistics and customer networks, into actionable strategies for the SAF market.
- Monitor and analyse
global SAF regulations, mandates, and incentive schemes across Europe, the UK, the US, Asia, and the Middle East.
- Build and maintain
a structured, data-driven database of regulatory and economic frameworks impacting SAF deployment.
- Translate complexity into strategy
by connecting policy insights with airlines' operational routes and fuel networks to identify optimal sourcing opportunities.
- Build the SAF economic and environmental optimization modelling
and help quantify the impact of policy mechanisms on pricing and market dynamics.
- Collaborate cross-functionally
with strategy, data, and commercial teams to ensure ATOBA's market intelligence directly drives business decisions.
- Contribute to high-level deliverables
— briefing notes, regulatory reports, and strategic analyses for partners and policymakers.
Who You Are
You're someone who thrives at the intersection of science, engineering, data, policy, and most of all you want to make an impact. Curious by nature and rigorous in method, you want to understand how rules and network optimizations shape markets — and how smart analysis can accelerate change in aviation.
You hold a Master's degree (or equivalent) in engineering.
You're analytical and curious, with a strong ability to make sense of complex frameworks and extract what truly matters.
You have developed network optimization algorithms and are eager to apply your knowledge for a sustainable impact
You love working with data models, analytical tools, and coding (Excel, Python, Power BI or similar) to turn networks and policy data into strategic insights.
You combine rigour and creativity, capable of connecting dots between policy, market dynamics, and operational realities.
You are passionate about making an impact in sustainable aviation, energy transition, and decarbonization — not as buzzwords, but as real challenges to solve.
You're fluent in French and English, both for research and for communicating complex ideas clearly to diverse audiences.
Why Join Us?
At ATOBA energy, you'll have the opportunity to directly influence the aviation industry's transition to a sustainable future. This is your chance to apply your trading expertise to help solving one of the industry's most critical challenges, working with a passionate team dedicated to making a real impact.
