Mission
Join Qonto's Quantitative Risk team as a Machine Learning Intern and help us build better ML tools, monitor model performance, and manage credit risk. Over 6 months, you'll contribute to real production systems that help us anticipate business needs and move faster with confidence.

You'll work closely with Gauthier Marquand, Head of Quantitative Risk, and be mentored by Paul-Adrien Marie, ML Engineer. Your work will directly impact how Qonto manages risk and makes data-driven decisions in a regulated fintech environment.

As a Machine Learning Intern at Qonto, you will:
・Enhance and strengthen modeling guidelines
aligned with state-of-the-art ML practices, creating documentation and implementing standards the team can rely on.

・Design and deploy
a monitoring framework for credit related models using best MLOps practices to highlight model performance assessment and explainability
.
・Apply a wild variety ML techniques
to consolidate our risk assessment framework (supervised, unsupervised and reinforcement learning)

・Support the Model Risk Manager
with model documentation and reporting.

What you can expect:
Team Context
: Join a team of 5 quantitative risk specialists working at the intersection of finance and technology. You'll collaborate with tech teams (fraud, compliance), financial risk teams, and product teams in charge of banking.

Full ML stack exposure
: See how models go from development to production environment. Your contributions will help the Risk team make data-driven decisions and assess the performances of ML models in live.

Cutting-edge techniques
: Apply recent ML methods with direct business impact. Test new approaches and measure their real value.

Tools we use
: Python, time-series forecasting tools, CI/CD pipelines, and web application frameworks for model deployment.

About your future manager:
His path:
You will directly report to Gauthier, a seasoned financial risk management professional with over a decade of experience. Gauthier's background spans consulting and Big banks, featuring a pivotal role at Société Générale as a Model Auditor, followed by his current position as a Head of the Quantitative Risk team at Qonto since January 2023. His expertise ensures a comprehensive understanding of risk challenges and innovative solutions.

What he brings to the team:
Gauthier offers a deep understanding of quantitative risk analysis, and strategic financial risk management, and fosters innovation. His fintech and banking sector experience ensures a comprehensive approach to challenges, making him instrumental in developing sophisticated risk management strategies at Qonto.

About You:
Education
: Pursuing a Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, or a related field.

Skills
: Strong proficiency in Python and machine learning techniques, particularly in time-series analysis.

Writing
: Excellent written communication skills with the ability to create clear, neutral-toned reports and documentation.

Analytical Thinking
: Sharp analytical mind with the ability to tackle complex problems.

Language
: Fluent in English; French is a plus.

Nice-to-haves
: Git for version control, SQL for data querying, experience with ML packaging or open-source contributions.
