Our Business Group is a leader in wireless mobility networks and associated services. With more that 3.500 partent families essential for 5G we have a strong 5G portfolio and are a front runner in open and virtualized radio access networks (O-RAN and vRAN).

The AI Research Lab at Bell Labs Solutions Research invites applications for intern positions in machine learning, mathematics, networking, modeling, and optimization. The Lab has a long tradition of excellence in research and currently consists of 80 staff members with expertise in algorithmic and computing sciences, network measurement and optimization, information theory, and machine learning. The internship is in the Machine Learning and Systems Group in the AI Research lab.
ResponsibilitiesYou will work with our current team to conduct high-quality fundamental research and apply the findings to problems that arise in a wide range of Nokia applications and use cases. Likely focus areas include:
- LLM and Generative AI methods
- Causal AI and Causal Modelling methods
- Machine Learning algorithms for predictive maintenance, predictive analytics, network resource optimization, or root cause analysis,
- Experiments with real data collected for example from telecommunication networks.
You have:
- Strong and proven background in machine learning, time series analysis, LLMs or causal inference, as well as Python or other programming languages.
- A natural interest in innovatively applying fundamental tools and methods to focused problem areas such as telecom network management and maintenance, distributed algorithms, and causal modeling problems.
It would be nice if you also had one of the following:
- Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch,
- Advanced knowledge of scikit-learn,
- Experience with open-source libraries for causal inference or LLMs
