The Opportunity
Join 3d.FAB, a leading French biofabrication laboratory and take part in an ambitious research program co-led with Sartorius Corporate Research starting in february 2026. The associated Research program framework aim to develop Large-scale Innovative Fabrication of in vitro engineered Tissues (LIFT).
Your missions:
1/ Develop core methodologies for producing, purifying and characterizing ECM-based biomaterial, including tailored ECM bioproduction in bioreactors to support large-scale tissue biofabrication. The ECM will be produced from primary human cells from liver and lung cultured in 3D inkjet-microbeads.
2/ Develop advanced ECM-based biomaterials to enhancing in vitro tissue maturation, differentiation, and vascularization through biomaterial functionalisation strategy. The targeted advanced biomaterial will incorporate vectorized proteins and/or mRNA.
You'll work at the interface of academia and industry, driving innovation and technology transfer in bioprocess engineering for regenerative medicine.

Your Role
- Extracellular matrix production, purification and characterisation
- Qualification of ECM quality lots
- Formulation and qualification of ECM-based bioinks
- Design, optimize, and scale ECM-based bioink functionalisation (cell targeting through 3D vectorisation)
- Collaborate with Sartorius on technology transfer and process scale-up
- Disseminate findings through publications, patents, and conferences
- Contribute to project coordination and mentoring activities
Your Profile
- PhD in Biomaterial science, Bioengineering, Tissue engineering, Bioprocess engineering or related field
- Hands-on experience on biomaterial / hydrogels production, purification, formulation
- Hands-on experience with hydrogels and ECM biochemical characterisation (SDS-PAGE/Western Blot, histology, protein/proteoglycan quantification, LC-MS analysis)
- Hands-on experience on 3D or in-vivo gene/protein delivery, LNP production, primary cell culture.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to thrive in a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Contract length: 18 months
Pay: Up to 34,750.00€ per year
