Our client is a
Surgical Robotics Software Pioneer
with a mission to reimagine the way surgeries are performed. Their ambition will resonate with you as a
Data Engineer with Medical Devices Experience (must have ) -
as
they are developing a technology that makes surgery kinder, safer, and less painful for the patient as well as more accurate for the surgeon. By combining advanced
computer vision, machine learning, deep learning, and real-time robotic control,
the end result will be a surgical robot which enables the surgeon to visualise patient anatomy within the Operating Room without any painful markers.

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the CTO the Data Engineer will build and maintain the data backbone that powers this technology. The
Data Engineer will collect, curate, document, and structure all datasets used across R&D, while managing data infrastructure and annotation workflows
with internal and external stakeholders.

You are working in a
highly regulated environment (FDA)
but then that makes sense - because this is all about surgical precision.

Main Responsibilities

  • 1. Data Collection & Management -
    data acquisition campaigns, storage, transfer, and compliance with GDPR, anonymization, and traceability requirements.
  • 2. Labeling & Annotation Supervision-
    Select and manage external annotation partners; & support the implementation of annotation pipelines & tracking tools
  • 3. Data Curation & Documentation & Reporting
  • 4. Infrastructure & Pipelines implementation (with partners)-
    ensuring reproducibility & traceability of
  • 5. Cross-functional Collaboration

Profile

  • MUST HAVE MEDICAL DEVICES EXPERIENCE
  • MSc or PhD in Data Engineering, Computer Vision, or related field.
  • 7+ years
    of experience in data management for
    AI/ML or computer vision projects.
  • Hands-on skills:
    Python, SQL/NoSQL, data versioning tools
    (e.g. DVC, Git-LFS),
    ML pipelines
    (e.g. MLflow, Kubeflow), and cloud storage (AWS, GCP, Azure).
  • Familiarity with medical imaging formats (DICOM, NIfTI) and labeling tools (CVAT, Supervisely, Labelbox) is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to coordinate external partners and internal stakeholders through a project-oriented approach.
  • Interest in surgical robotics, AI, and quality-driven development.
