VP of Engineering

UnderDefense is expanding its product organization and looking for a VP of Engineering to lead the evolution of our flagship platform – UnderDefense MAXI, a next-generation cybersecurity automation ecosystem.

This role is for a strategic yet hands-on leader who can combine technical excellence, product vision, and people leadership to build scalable engineering teams and world-class products.

You will help us transform a fast-growing Ukrainian cybersecurity success story into a global platform company – one release, one product team, one win at a time.

What you can do for us:

• Build and lead a multi-team Product/Engineering organization, structured around several cybersecurity products.
• Translate product vision into predictable, continuous delivery outcomes – consistently bringing new products to market.
• Keep and continuously improve engineering excellence frameworks: quality gates, CI/CD, release management, documentation standards.
• Plan and validate predictable delivery cycles with stakeholders, define and track performance metrics, and ensure consistent execution.
• Research, test, validate and cover required parts of product with LLM-based automation.
• Evaluate and translate business ideas into actionable engineering roadmaps, and provide balanced feedback on delivery effort, cost, and ROI – enabling data-driven product decisions

Remuneration:

We do not set fixed financial limits for this position. We value the right person first – your experience, leadership capability, and vision will define the offer.

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of software development experience, including 3+ in Engineering Director / VP / Head of Engineering roles.
• Proven record of successfully launching and scaling multiple products or major product features, ensuring technical excellence, delivery predictability, and market impact
• Experience with SaaS or platform products.
• Sufficient understanding of microservices, distributed systems, APIs, and cloud infrastructure.
• Strong business, leadership and communication skills, fluent English (both verbal and written).
  A coaching, ownership-oriented mindset – find and validate problems and it solutions, not just solves it.

Nice to have:

• Experience integrating AI/LLM or automation frameworks into production systems.
• Proven hands-on experience in Software Development.
• Familiarity with security or compliance standards (SOC 2, ISO
