Contract Type: Freelance (micro-entreprise) or employee contract (CDD then CDI)
Hours: ≈ 14 hours of teaching/week (two hours after school on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, all day Wednesday) during Paris region school periods from mid September to early June, specific times and workload are negotiable. Possibility of developing other paid opportunities (holiday courses, group adult evening lessons etc.)
Rate: 40-50€ freelance per hour taught or equivalent employee contract, indexed annual increases, plus bonus calculated on rate of retention of students to following school year.
Dates: Starting September 2026 at the latest (earlier in 2026 if possible)
About us
Le Cartable Anglais is an English language school in Versailles that offers weekly group lessons for non bilingual children, from age zero to 18. The current opportunity is to teach children from 6 to 14. Our pedagogy is structured yet playful, focusing on small, immersive groups of 6–8 children in age and ability-homogeneous classes.
We use well-established, age-appropriate methods such as Kid's Box for CE1 and above, Super Safari for CP.
Our teaching aims to help children gain confidence in speaking, improve pronunciation (particularly stress and intonation), and make steady, lasting progress.
Role Description
We are looking for a motivated, creative, and experienced native level English speaker to teach around 14 weekly 1 hour lessons. You will plan and deliver engaging, playful, and effective lessons in person at our Versailles centre. You will always be supported by the management and teaching team.
Key Responsibilities
- Use our core methods (Kid's Box, Super Safari, Super Minds) to deliver content and activities
- Review and adapt lesson plans aligned with our structured but fun approach, and where appropriate design interactive activities: role-play, songs, games, story time, listening exercises
- Correct pronunciation, help with stress patterns, and support confident spoken English
- Monitor student progress and adapt lessons to individual needs
- Communicate with parents about their child's development and homework
- Support home learning by giving guidance on workbook exercises and digital tools
- Support and run level tests for new students if needed (paid extra)
Required Skills & Experience
- Native-level English proficiency
- Prior experience teaching children (6–14 years old) in a language-learning context
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children
- Strong classroom management skills, especially in a small-group setting
- Good communication skills with both children and parents
- Reliability and professionalism
- Experience or familiarity with Cambridge-style methods or communicative / immersive teaching
- Eligibility to work in France (right to work, appropriate visa if needed)
Desirable Qualities and Qualifications
- Teaching certification (TEFL, CELTA, etc.)
- Experience working in bilingual / international educational environments
- Familiarity with digital learning tools (e.g., SpeakyPlanet)
- First-aid certification or experience with young children
- Reasonable level of spoken French to facilitate communication with parents and explanation of grammar to higher level students
