Sustainability Project Internship

Paris | 6-month Internship or Work-Study | Starting Q1 2026

Company Description

Séché Environnement is a leading player in the circular economy and in the recovery and treatment of all types of waste, including the most complex and hazardous. The family-owned group operates in more than 15 countries and operates around forty industrial sites in France. With over 6,000 employees—including 2,000 in France—Séché Environnement generates approximately €1 billion in revenue, 30% of which comes from international markets.

Thanks to its expertise in creating circular economy loops, pollutant treatment, greenhouse gas management, and hazard control, the group directly contributes to the protection of life and biodiversity.

Mission

The selected candidate will join the Group's Sustainable Development Department, based in Paris. The role may require occasional travel to various Séché Environnement sites.

The intern will support the Sustainable Development Department, its Director, and the team in carrying out their missions. Depending on the candidate's interests, tasks may include work in the following areas:

Energy

  • Implementing the energy efficiency strategy and increasing low-carbon energy production.

Water

  • Rolling out strategies to reduce water consumption at sites, with a focus on efficiency and sobriety.

Biodiversity

  • Conducting a study on land artificialization and site renaturation: assessment, regulatory review, and recommendations.
  • Supporting the Group's biodiversity strategy led by in-house ecologists: project management, report writing, and improvements.

Climate

  • Supporting the implementation of the decarbonization strategy: developing action plans and tracking progress.

Public Affairs

  • Institutional monitoring on various topics.
  • Developing stakeholder maps.
  • Preparing meetings with stakeholders.
  • Drafting briefing notes (waste topics, news, regulations, economic analysis).
  • Responding to CSR / non-financial questionnaires.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Academic background in sustainable development or environmental studies (Master's level: Bac +4 / Bac +5). Interest in industrial issues and the transition to a circular economy is a plus.
  • Professional proficiency in English and advanced Spanish required; a good level of French is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and synthesis skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong ability to work in a team.

The position is based in Paris.
Remote work is not possible.
