Paris, Île-de-France Alice & Bob Temps plein

Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world's hardest problems.

The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously

We are at the forefront of the quantum race, competing with tech giants such as Google or IBM, and we are growing fast after securing €100 million of funding in 2025 to develop our unique technology.

Currently 100+ and counting, between physicists, PhD students, engineers and experienced business professionals, we are united to reach our ambitious goal. Are you a quantum pioneer? Join us on a mission to reshape the future

Context:

This internship explores the simulation of DC and RF couplings in large-scale superconducting qubit systems, a central challenge for scalable quantum computing. By building and analyzing detailed models of these interactions, the project aims to guide device design choices and enhance the performance of multi-qubit architectures.

About the role:

As an intern, you will be responsible for setting up and running DC/RF simulations (using InductEx/Ansys) to analyze superconducting qubit layouts, including crosstalk and parasitic effects. You will also collaborate closely with physicists and engineers, translating simulation results into concrete design rules and layout recommendations that drive the development of our fault-tolerant quantum processors.

Responsibilities:
  • Set up and run DC and RF simulations of superconducting qubit circuits using InductEx and Ansys Electronics Desktop (AEDT).
  • Analyze cross-talk, parasitic couplings, and impedance matching to quantify their impact on qubit coherence and control fidelity.
  • Build and maintain parametric models and simulation workflows to efficiently explore large design spaces and scaling scenarios.
  • Collaborate with designers to translate simulation outputs into layout guidelines and design optimisations.
  • Compare simulation results with experimental data from fabricated chips to validate models and refine assumptions.
  • Document methods, scripts, and results in a clear, reproducible way for use by other team members and future projects.
  • Present findings in team meetings and contribute to design reviews for next-generation superconducting qubit architectures.
Requirements:
  • You are currently enrolled in a Master's degree in Engineering or Physics
  • Available for a 5-6 months internship (ideally from January 2026).
  • Prior knowledge of electromagnetic field theory.
  • First-hand experience with electromagnetic solvers (e.g: Ansys).
  • Experience with Python.
  • Proficient English skills, both written and spoken.
We're also looking for:
  • A strong curiosity and openness to new ideas
  • Research skills (going through existing literature, testing new methods)
  • Team player mindset
Benefits:
  • 1 day off per month
  • Meal Vouchers with Swile
  • 50% Navigo reimbursement
Recruitment Process:
  • Hiring Manager with Felix (45 min)
  • Technical Interview with the team (60 min)
  • Fit Interview (30 min)
  • Reference Check

Research shows that women might feel hesitant to apply for this job if they don't match 100% of the job requirements listed. This list is a guide, and we'd love to receive your application even if you think you're only a partial match. We are looking to build teams that innovate, not just tick boxes on a job spec.

You will join of one of the most innovative startups in France at an early stage, to be part of a passionate and friendly team on its mission to build the first universal quantum computer

We love to share and learn from one another, so you will be certain to innovate, develop new ideas, and have the space to grow.
