Spark Cleantech is a fast-growing and innovative start-up developing a breakthrough process that
replaces the combustion of hydrocarbons
in high-temperature industrial furnaces and in materials production with an alternative that is
not only fully decarbonised, but also economically competitive
and requires only minimal adaptation to existing industrial processes.

Following the successful deployment of an industrial pilot on a client site in 2024 and a major funding round in 2025, we are now building our first industrial standard.

Your Role
As part of the Technology & Product department and reporting to the Technology & Product Director, your main mission will be to support Spark's technological development and the building of its industrial demonstrator by leading the development of control for Spark systems.

Your main responsibilities will include:

• As team lead, driving and contributing to the specification and design of hardware and software control and command systems (functional and safety) for Spark's products and test equipment.
• Working in close coordination with system architecture, plasma torch, reactor, electrical engineering, and testing teams.
• Ensuring that the team's deliverables are consistent with the schedule and comply with technical requirements.
• Specifying and designing control and command components, including instrumentation, whether developed internally (high-frequency systems specific to plasma generators) or outsourced (standard BPCS / SIS solutions).
• Managing and supervising subcontractors and service providers, and ensuring the quality of both physical deliverables and technical documentation.
• Contributing to the definition and execution of equipment validation and acceptance plans.
• Supporting Spark's intellectual property strategy through active patent monitoring and the protection of new inventions.

Your Profile

• Engineer graduated from a top-tier engineering school (Advanced Control & Command or Industrial Automation), ideally holding a PhD
• At least 10 years of experience in highly demanding industrial environments, including ATEX, EMC and SIL management
• Strong expertise in control and command system development, both hardware and software
• Solid background in EMC, SIL, ATEX and instrumentation
• Proven planning capability with a strong results-oriented mindset
• Experience in managing teams and external suppliers
• Fluent English is mandatory
• Open-minded and team player
