Description
At Lufa Farms, we're on a mission to create a better food system, and with four urban farms (and counting) producing veg year-round, we're looking for a motivated and hardworking leader to help us with daily operations.

The Greenhouse Team Lead is responsible for the smooth and efficient day-to-day operation of the greenhouse. This includes monitoring greenhouse activities, staff routines, and maintenance. You'll be getting your hands dirty daily, helping with cultivation tasks, and supporting the Plant Science team. You'll thrive in this position if you're a hardworking natural leader who's comfortable spending all day working in a hot and humid environment.

Responsibilities
Getting your hands dirty (literally) by performing cultivation tasks by following the Plant Science team's instructions and assisting them with tasks;

Help supervise and keep records of all daytime greenhouse activities, such as crop work, harvest, cleaning, maintenance, and crop changes;

Carry out weekly checklists to maintain smooth operations, ongoing site maintenance, and overall greenhouse cleanliness;

Help improve overall site production and quality of seeding, planting, and transplanting;

Recognize, report, and troubleshoot problems with equipment, structure, heating, and irrigation;

Assess plant health and relay important issues to the Greenhouse Supervisor.

Requirements
Strong communicator in French and English;

Must be physically and mentally able to maintain cruising speed during eight hours of physical labour in a hot and humid environment;

Ability to work quickly and precisely without making errors;

Great work ethic, flexibility, and detail-oriented.

Assets

Prior experience formally supervising staff, but we welcome candidates with strong leadership attributes who have not yet formally managed a team;

Comfortable with working on a computer via Google Drive, emails, and document templates.

Schedule

Tuesday to Saturday from 6:30 am to 3:30 pm.
