Short Description: This internship will be focused on tagging of the critical Knowledge information identified on ITER and on the investigation on Knowledge Map solution to enable the accessibility and discoverability of knowledge.

Description of tasks:

Task 1: The intern will review the critical knowledge projects identified by the Knowledge Management (KM) coordinator and manually apply tags to the selected documents. These documents will then be integrated into Lucy (the Artificial Intelligence chatbot) without requiring retraining of its algorithm, thereby enhancing their discoverability. The objectives of this task are twofold: (i) to improve the accessibility and retrieval speed of key documentation, and (ii) to curate and structure the content for better overall knowledge management.

Task 2: The intern will research and compile a list of both commercial and open-source solutions for the creation of knowledge maps. The purpose of this task is to identify a solution that is fully compatible with the ITER Collaborative Platform (ICP - Document and Data Management Tool) and can provide a "shell" layer for mapping knowledge. This will contribute to improved discoverability, navigation, and accessibility of critical ITER resources.

Task 3: If time permits, the intern may also support the appraisal and selection of ICP documents in specific thematic or functional areas, contributing further to the enrichment of ITER's digital knowledge base.

The ITER Organization offers internship opportunities to undergraduate and postgraduate students with the objective of providing these students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in their field of study, whilst collaborating in an international, scientific and multicultural environment.  Internships are offered for up to six months, extendable for up to one year (depending on the category).  To find out more about our internship program, please refer to our website (click here)

Internship opportunities are limited to nationals from countries participating in the ITER Project (China, the European Union, India, Japan, Korea, Russian Federation, and the United States). Their Universities should be also established in the territories of the ITER Members.

 

Please also note that interns are not considered staff members and shall, therefore, not have the status of "Staff" as per the ITER Agreement and the Headquarters Agreement (see more information on these constitutive agreements in Legal Resources).  Neither the ITER Staff Regulations nor the privileges and immunities granted to ITER Organization staff are applicable to interns.  The ITER Organization salary, pension scheme, and social insurance coverage do also not apply.
