Role Summary:

We are seeking a
Computer Scientist with a strong engineering background
to build the data foundation for our Software Portfolio Efficiency Initiative. This role focuses on extracting, structuring, and analyzing quantitative data from code repositories (GitLab, GitHub), artifact management systems, and observability platforms (Grafana, DataDog). You will implement logic to programmatically determine relationships and enforce metadata standards across 90+ products and 50+ platform services.

Role Requirements:

To thrive in this role, you should have:

Advanced proficiency in
Python
and working knowledge of
JavaScript

Solid experience with
Version Control Systems (GitLab, GitHub)
and
CI/CD pipelines

Deep understanding of
algorithms, data structures and graph theory
(especially as applied to reverse engineering and static analysis)

Experience
mining large codebases
(on-premise & AWS Cloud) and integrating with systems like
Artifactory, Prometheus, Splunk

Familiarity with
AI/ML concepts
,
Graph RAG
, and
vector databases

Proven ability to create robust documentation (architecture diagrams, data flows, runbooks)

An exploratory mindset capable of defining technical solutions for data retrieval and analysis without explicit step-by-step instructions

Core Responsibilities:

As part of our team, you will:


Data Mining & Extraction


• Mine code repositories to construct data-driven software metrics


• Use Abstract Syntax Trees (AST) to represent and analyze source code structure


• Identify deep dependencies and usage patterns of platform libraries and services


Metadata Standardization


• Implement validation logic within DevHub (Backstage)


• Design and mandate automation-critical metadata


• Enforce Canonical Internal Automation IDs across the ecosystem


Graph Database Implementation


• Architect and implement graph database solutions


• Apply Gen AI / RAG techniques where applicable


• Map "Known Unknowns" and complex dependency chains (Edge, AWS Cloud, Foundation services)


Telemetry Integration


• Map quantitative metrics to confirmed systems


• Visualize real-time adoption and performance of reusable assets


Algorithm Development


• Develop algorithms to calculate metrics based on defined acceptance criteria


Documentation & Handoff


• Produce comprehensive technical documentation


• Prepare materials for seamless maintenance by permanent teams
