The Lean Director is responsible for driving operational excellence and continuous improvement across ENVEA, by deploying Lean principles, methods, and behaviors within operations and selected end-to-end business processes.
In addition to manufacturing and industrial processes, the Lean Director leads Lean transformation projects across critical business flows, including:
- Quotation and tendering processes
- Order management and order-to-delivery flows
- Physical layout optimization, notably at our Poissy site
- Lean deployment throughout the Group
The role ensures that Lean initiatives are translated into measurable performance improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost, lead time, and cash, while embedding a sustainable continuous improvement culture.
The Lean Director acts as a methodological expert and change agent, partnering with operational and functional leaders to structure problem-solving, redesign processes, and implement Lean solutions.
While line managers remain accountable for performance outcomes, the Lean Director is accountable for Lean deployment quality, project execution discipline, capability building, and sustainability improvements.
Duties
The Lean Director operates as a hands-on operational excellence leader, with direct responsibility for the planning, execution, and delivery of Lean initiatives.
Lean Project Ownership & Delivery
- Own the end-to-end execution of assigned Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
- Translate operational and business objectives into Lean project plans, workstreams, milestones, and deliverables
- Drive day-to-day execution of Lean projects and ensure actions and commitments are delivered
Planning, Execution & Control
- Build and maintain Lean project plans, including timelines, resources, dependencies, and risks
- Actively manage priorities, scope, and sequencing to ensure delivery of results
- Identify, assess, and mitigate operational and execution risks
Lean Deployment & Methods
- Deploy Lean principles, standards, and tools (e.g. VSM, Kaizen, 5S, SMED, problem solving)
- Lead Lean projets on:
- Quotation and tendering processes
- Order management and order-to-delivery flows
- Layout optimization and flow improvement, including Poissy site
- Ensure consistency of Lean practices across sites and functions
Governance, Reporting & Escalation
- Ensure alignment with Group operational excellence and transformation governance
- Produce accurate and timely reporting on Lean initiatives (progress, risks, KPIs, benefits)
- Escalate issues and decision needs proactively with clear recommendations
Stakeholder & Team Management
- Lead cross-functional teams without direct line authority
- Coach and challenge operational and functional stakeholders constructively
- Facilitate Kaizen events, workshops, and working sessions
- Coordinate external Lean consultants when applicable
Value Creation & Performance Tracking
- Translate improvement opportunities into quantified performance gains
- Track benefits against baselines, targets, and KPIs (cost, lead time, productivity, service level)
- Report against operational and business performance indicators
Change Implementation & Sustainability
- Drive implementation of new processes, standards, and layouts
- Ensure improvements are adopted, standardized, and embedded in daily management
- Support handover to line organization and ensure sustainability of gains
Reporting
- Ensure regular reporting to stakeholders on Lean project progress
- Contribute to consolidated operational excellence and transformation reporting
- Support CTO reporting to Executive Committee, Board, and shareholders when required
Person Specification
For this role we are looking for:
- Strong experience as a hands-on Lean Director or operational excellence leader
- Proven ability to deliver Lean and continuous improvement initiatives end to end
- Strong execution mindset with the ability to drive change without direct authority
- Excellent structuring, problem-solving, and coaching skills
- Clear and confident communication with operational and senior stakeholders
- High level of rigor, autonomy, and ownership
- Fluent English is mandatory
Experience
- Extensive experience in Lean, operational excellence, or continuous improvement roles, with direct accountability for project delivery
- A consulting background is a plus
- Demonstrated experience working across global, multinational organizations, managing stakeholders across geographies, cultures, and organizational contexts
- Proven track record of delivering Lean initiatives in industrial, B2B, or multi-site environments
- Hands-on experience driving productivity improvement, lead-time reduction, cost reduction, and flow optimization
- Experience working in matrix organizations and influencing without direct line authority
- Exposure to transformation programs, value creation initiatives, or consulting environments is a strong advantage
