Field(s) of activity for the internship
Topic of the internship: EGNOS System Performance Analysis Environment – Evolutions on SBAS performance analysis results publication and data management modules
The EGNOS V3.1 System is composed of 39 Remote reference stations, 2 Main Control Centres (hosting in particular the central processing Facilities) and 6 Uplink Stations to connect to 3 Geostationary satellites - All sites being interconnected by a dedicated Real-time Wide Area Network.
EGNOS V3.1 design is the result of a complex multi-disciplinary exercise implementing stringent performance, safety, security and operability requirements into several interconnected sub-systems.
The System is currently under deployment and the individual performance of each component as well as the end-to-end performance shall be continuously monitored during this phase to confirm the configuration of the system algorithms.
The EGNOS System performance analysis environment is composed of a set of tools, processing huge volume of data and producing near-real time and offline analysis to support the EGNOS performance engineering and the performance assessment.
The EGNOS System performance analysis environment is continuously being upgraded via the improvement of existing modules or the development of new modules, to improve not only the analysis capacities but also the overall operability (analysis automatisation, archiving, access rights, web pages for near-real time analysis,..)
The objective of this internship is to further improve the operability to support the EGNOS V3 deployment and performance qualification phase via the upgrade of specific modules already available:
- the scenario manager (Execution of analysis modules and archiving): Inclusion of additional analysis modules and general improvement of the archiving process;
- the display manager (publication of results and metrics in a user-friendly manner): Implementation of project/campaign management with associated access rights, Additional internal computed data, internal publication inside the Division/Department.
You will carry out your internship within the System Engineering section (Performance Team), and your assignments will include:
- collecting the user needs for the specification of upgrades for an internal publication inside the Division/Department;
- operating the analysis and comparison tools to get familiarised with the analysis outputs and their interface control documents;
- defining the development approach;
- implementing and testing the software using real data from the EGNOS System performance analysis environment;
