About the job

Job purpose

The purpose is to ensure data management practices evolve to meet the requirements of an AI-intensive organization.

Main missions

Your responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Data Management Center of Excellence (CoE), including the generalization of local best practices on data management into group frameworks, and the management of overall data frameworks/assets to ensure their coherence.
  • Drive the evolution and modernization of data management practices (ref: AXA Data Management Activity Map, Data Management Asset Catalog) to support new strategic requirements on Data & AI, identify the gaps, propose adequate evolution notably in terms of unstructured data and new requirements related to AI (incl. Generative and Agentic AI), and develop concepts and best practices regarding "AI for Data Management".
  • Support entities in the implementation of data management practices, manage the Data Management Community including event animations, assets creations & maintenance, entity advisory, etc.
  • Provide data management expertise to AXA Flagships, notably:
    • the "Tech, Data & Operations Strategy" and "AI Scaling" initiatives, by supporting the implementation squads with suitable data management standards and practices.
  • the Data & AI Academy, as SME for relevant learning content, and ensure the necessary upskilling options are available at AXA to support the expertise enhancement and culture change.

Expected skills & experience

We are looking for someone with the following experience and skills:

Experience & Technical skills

  • Familiar with the Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK, from DAMA)
  • At least 8 years of experience in operational data management activities with concrete experience in Data Governance, Metadata and Data Quality management, Data Risks, as well as good understanding of Data Product
  • Strong capability of abstraction, definition of concepts and drafting of frameworks, guidelines and practices
  • Good knowledge on AI technologies and their implications to data management activities
  • English - Fluent in speaking and writing
  • An experience with insurance business and AI use case implementation would be a plus.

Soft skills / transversal skills

  • Ability to communicate, mobilize and coordinate a network of stakeholders from various backgrounds (CDOs, CTOs, business leaders, transformation managers, architects, head of data management, data managers, data stewards, data scientists, learning & development people, etc.)
  • Organizational skills and rigor in execution
  • Autonomy, intellectual curiosity, and taste for innovation
  • Self-motivated, proactive and able to work in a complex organization
  • Team player in a multi-cultural work environment, able to see the big picture as well as deep dive into details when necessary.

The division

Within Group Operations, the Group Data AI and Innovation (GDAI) division explores and scales the value of data, AI, and emerging technologies with the potential to disrupt the current insurance business model and to shape future opportunities in order to better partner in our customers' lives.

The department / team

Within GDAI, the Group Information Management team aims to:

  • Ensure the good information management practices within AXA, covering Data & AI Governance, Data Quality, Data Documentation (incl. Meta Management), Data Modeling,
  • Data & AI Risks, evolving to integrate AI (incl. Generative and Agentic AI), and a growing usage of external and unstructured data.
  • Develop concepts, knowledge and define best practices, functional/technical frameworks, guidelines, or assets on Data.
  • Facilitate communities on Data, both internally in AXA as well as externally, foster progress with entities' data capabilities, coordinate and support local Data Management Offices.
  • Provide information management expertise to AXA flagships, notably the "Tech, Data & Operations Strategy" initiatives.
