Job Title: Chalet Host

Reporting to: Resort Manager, Chalet Manager, Chalet Supervisor (resort dependent) 

What you will be doing:

Pre-season and set-up:

  • Completing the Inghams pre-season online training course before you travel to resort and the in-country training course once you arrive overseas
  • Developing the skills to deliver our meal services, deliver high standards of safe and effective housekeeping as well as building confidence to deliver an exceptional ‘Host’ service for our guests
  • Developing a thorough understanding of your resort to be a true expert and font of knowledge for your guests.
  • Undergoing resort and chalet ‘set up’ in which you prepare your chalet for first arrivals through carrying out a full inventory of your chalet, ensure that the chalet is clean and presentable and helping out in any other chalets in your resort so that they are also prepared for first guests arrivals


Chalet Operation and Guest Experience:

  • Creating a ‘home from home’ atmosphere for your guests.
  • Preparing, cooking and serving meals in accordance with the Chalet Menu Book – including a full cooked breakfast, afternoon tea and multi course evening meal. Sometimes individually for up to 16 people (resort specific) 
  • Carefully managing any guest allergies and being flexible to needs, in terms of dietary requirements.
  • Welcoming your guests to each meal service in a friendly manner helping to create a relaxed dining experience.
  • Maintaining a high standard of daily cleanliness and hygiene ensuring all housekeeping and cleaning duties throughout the chalet in particular guest bedrooms, dining area, kitchen, communal area including ski locker rooms and any sauna/hot tubs are treated with the relevant chemicals.
  • Preparing linen for collection and be ready to receive new deliveries with suppliers.
  • Ensuring that all food, chalet wine and cleaning products are stored correctly.
  • Managing stock levels for your chalet through accurate stock taking. Reporting weekly to the management team regarding ordering new supplies.
  • Adhering to all Risk & Safety including COSHH legislation and Food Hygiene best practices and report any non-compliant findings.    
  • Ensuring all chalet entrances, fire exits, balconies and pathways are clear of rubbish and are regularly cleared of snow/ice ensuring they are safe to use. 
  • Hosting a welcome meeting for your guests giving an overview of chalet facilities and meal services for the week including details & arrangements on your day off.
  • Providing guests with comprehensive information on your resort, the local area, and available activities and excursions.
  • Attending the weekly staff meeting so you are fully briefed on following week’s arrivals, guest feedback and general resort operations relevant to your role  
  • Handling any guest issues effectively and promptly, whilst demonstrating courtesy, consideration, and genuine kindness.
  • Showing off your resort by providing exciting content to be used by our social media, marketing and recruitment teams.


Reporting and Feedback:

  • Completing daily and weekly paperwork such as cleaning checklists, stock takes, orders and HACCP checks.
  • Encouraging the completion of online guest feedback to help us improve as a company. 


End of Season Tasks:

  • Completing full inventory for your chalet, assisting the resort management in making sure that all items are present.
  • Deep cleaning the internal and external areas of your chalet to a level where you can proudly hand it back to the owner.
  • Assisting with the cleaning and closing of other company properties, including staff accommodation.


Additional Duties:

  • Acting as an ambassador for the Inghams brand by wearing your uniform with pride and conducting yourself in a manner befitting of the company values.
  • Support other roles, chalets, or resort operations as required, demonstrating flexibility to work across different locations
  • Assisting with any other duties as requested by the Management team.


The type of person we are looking for:


Essential Skills and Experience

  • A genuine passion for the mountains, outdoor environments and snow-sports with enthusiasm to share this with guests
  • Previous experience of cooking for groups of people
  • Experience of working in the hospitality/customer service industry
  • An energetic, sociable and team orientated approach, with excellent communication, time management, attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • A flexible and adaptable attitude to roles, responsibilities and working hours


Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Previous seasonal experience in a similar role.
  • Completion of a chalet cookery or hosting course.
