development and relationship building, where professionals grow and succeed
together. Our entrepreneurial culture, flat structure and embrace of individual
differences, allow creative ideas, original concepts, and unique perspectives to
drive our business forward — and for careers to take flight.
Through our financial advisory business, Lazard advises clients around the world
on strategic and financial matters including mergers and acquisitions,
restructurings, capital structure and capital raising. Our client relationships
are built on trust and discretion. As the world’s largest advisory-focused firm,
we have exceptional depth of expertise across industry sectors and geographies.
We value the rich diversity that comes from blending local perspective with our
global network.
Lazard's Paris-based Sovereign Advisory Group is the historic and market-leading
player in the public sector financial advisory industry. We provide tailor-made
advice to governments and state-owned enterprises around the world with a focus
on transaction-based financial advisory assignments in emerging and frontier
markets.
For more than 50 years, our team of c. 20 investment bankers, macroeconomists,
capital markets experts and former high-level civil servants has put its
unmatched experience at the service of our clients, which have entrusted us with
the task of providing non-conflicted advice in the context of complex and
sensitive financial assignments. These include debt restructuring operations,
the design and implementation of financing strategies and debt management
frameworks, infrastructure development assignments, macro-fiscal policy advisory
and the management of public assets and contingent liabilities.
Recently, Lazard’s Sovereign Advisory Group has acted – or is still acting – as
financial advisor to the governments of Argentina, Ecuador, Ethiopia, Ghana,
Lebanon, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Suriname and Zambia in the context of
sovereign debt restructuring assignments. Our team has also been involved in
some of the most high-profile sovereign and quasi-sovereign restructurings of
the last two decades, notably in Croatia, Congo, Greece, Iraq, Kazakhstan and
Ukraine.
