We’re Hiring: GRP Department Manager
Prime Frontier Group is seeking an experienced GRP Department Manager to establish and lead the initial operations of a new Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP) department in Africa. This is a hands-on leadership role. The successful candidate will build the department’s operational foundations, establish its technical and quality standards, and train an existing workshop team of certified welders and pipefitters in GRP fabrication and repair.
The objective is to leave behind a fully structured, capable and sustainable department that can continue operating after the six-month assignment.
Key Responsibilities
• Establish the GRP department’s structure, workflows and operating procedures
• Define equipment, tooling, materials and workshop requirements
• Introduce appropriate technical, safety and quality-control standards
• Assess the capabilities of the existing workshop team
• Develop and deliver a structured GRP training programme
• Provide practical, workshop-based training in GRP fabrication and repair
• Supervise initial GRP activities and monitor technical competency
• Develop operating procedures, quality documentation and training materials
• Prepare the department and its personnel for independent operation
• Complete a structured handover at the end of the assignment Candidate Profile
• Proven experience managing or establishing a GRP department, workshop or technical unit
• Strong hands-on experience in GRP fabrication, installation and repair
• Experience developing technical procedures, quality controls and workforce training programmes
• Strong leadership and practical workshop-management capabilities
• Experience in maritime, offshore, oil and gas, or industrial fabrication is preferred
• Fluency in French is required, as the role involves directly managing and training the local team
• Comfortable taking ownership of a defined six-month mandate with measurable outcomes Contract Details
