About The Role
What if your advanced knowledge of semiconductor materials or molecular modeling could directly shape how AI reasons through the most complex problems in modern science? We're looking for Materials Science experts — Masters and PhD-level — to help train cutting-edge AI models by developing, solving, and evaluating advanced technical problems in their domain. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed to fit around your existing work or research commitments. No prior AI experience needed — just deep domain expertise and a sharp scientific mind. Organization: Alignerr Type: Hourly Contract

Remote Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
Develop, solve, and critically review advanced materials science problems with real-world relevance Apply your expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or related areas to design complex, rigorous problem statements Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to improve AI model reasoning and scientific accuracy Evaluate AI-generated technical content for scientific correctness, depth, and clarity Ensure all deliverables meet a high standard of scientific rigor and precision Who You Are Holds a Master's or PhD in Materials Science or a closely related field Deep expertise in semiconductor materials, molecular modeling, or adjacent specializations Comfortable coding in Python or MATLAB for research or analytical tasks Exceptional written communicator — you can explain complex concepts with clarity and precision Detail-oriented and rigorous in your approach to scientific problem-solving Fluent in English Nice to Have Prior experience with data annotation, data quality review, or AI evaluation workflows Background in academic research or applied industry R&D Experience writing or reviewing technical documentation, problem sets, or scientific assessments Why Join Us Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside world-leading research labs and AI teams Fully remote and asynchronous — work when and where it suits you Freelance autonomy with the structure and purpose of meaningful, high-impact technical work Apply your domain expertise in a novel, intellectually stimulating context beyond traditional research Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
