Alice & Bob is at the forefront of quantum computing innovation, dedicated to developing the world's first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer capable of solving the most complex problems across various industries. Our groundbreaking approach leverages a novel superconducting qubit technology known as the Schrödinger cat qubit, which offers exceptional capabilities for autonomous quantum error correction. Our mission is to revolutionize computational power by building scalable, reliable quantum systems that can seamlessly integrate into high-performance computing environments, on-premises infrastructures, and cloud platforms. With a team of world-class scientists, engineers, and industry experts, Alice & Bob is committed to pushing the boundaries of quantum technology and delivering solutions that will transform industries such as pharmaceuticals, finance, logistics, and more.

About The Role
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Staff Engineer to lead the architecture and development of our quantum software infrastructure. This pivotal role involves designing and evolving the underlying systems that enable our quantum processors to operate with high reliability, scalability, and autonomy. The successful candidate will establish the foundational frameworks for error correction, quantum compilation, data management, and automation pipelines, transforming raw quantum hardware into a production-grade quantum processing unit (QPU). This position requires a deep understanding of system design, data engineering, and quantum control infrastructure, working collaboratively with hardware teams, quantum theorists, data engineers, and operational staff. Your expertise will directly influence the next generation of scalable, error-corrected quantum computing platforms, ensuring seamless integration across diverse deployment environments including HPC, on-premises, and cloud systems. Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in building large-scale, high-reliability systems, infrastructure layers, or scientific platforms.
- Proven track record in architecting complex distributed systems and data-intensive architectures.
- Expertise in Python, asynchronous frameworks, service-oriented design, and performance optimization.
- Extensive knowledge of storage technologies including SQL, NoSQL, time-series databases, object storage, and distributed filesystems.
- Hands-on experience with automation tools such as schedulers, workflow engines, configuration management, and data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of hardware/software interactions, synchronization mechanisms, and real-time feedback systems.
- Familiarity with containerization, Kubernetes, reproducible environments, multi-tenant architectures, and hybrid HPC/cloud deployments.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives. Responsibilities
- Define and lead the architecture of the Quantum Infrastructure layer bridging low-level control software and user-facing services.
- Collaborate with quantum hardware and control software teams to integrate requirements for qubit calibration, stabilization, and error correction cycles.
- Design the software backbone supporting real-time and near-real-time feedback loops between hardware, error correction logic, and automation systems.
- Architect data and service layers to support quantum error correction frameworks, syndrome extraction workflows, and long-term state tracking.
- Develop a robust, scalable quantum circuit compilation stack that allows easy integration with various frameworks and supports future upgrades.
- Serve as a technical authority on quantum infrastructure and scalable data systems, providing guidance and mentorship to engineering teams.
- Drive the long-term architectural strategy, define technical roadmaps, and ensure alignment across organizational units. Benefits
- Ownership of equity through our BSPCE plan, allowing you to share in the company's success.
- Substantial bonuses linked to core patents and innovations in quantum architecture.
- Flexible remote work policy, enabling up to 40% remote work per month.
- Comprehensive parental benefits, including crèche support and additional leave for caregivers.
- Subsidized membership with Urban Sports Club for health and wellness activities.
- Mental health support services via moka.care.
- Generous vacation policy of 25 days plus RTT, in accordance with French law.
- Partial coverage of transportation costs or an annual bicycle allowance.
- Competitive health insurance coverage with Alan.
