Software Design Engineers play a vital role in performing Electrical and PLC software design/commissioning activities within the allocated cost and time scale constraints of the material-handling project. They also ensure the design/commissioning activities follow the correct methods and standards to meet the requirements of the customer's project.

What we offer:
To provide PLC, HMI, SCADA software design, emulation, testing and commissioning within cost and time scale constraints of a material-handling project, whilst ensuring the solution meets the requirements of the project.
In this role you will also provide/lead / manage the design and implementation of controls solutions for automated materials handling systems. Promote consistent standards and continuous improvement within the design team.
Main Job Objectives
Deliver the assigned project scope and tasks by meeting\exceeding our safety, quality, On-Time-Delivery and budget requirements. To produce PLC software and/or visualization systems. To emulate and test PLC software. To interpret electrical schematics and design input information. To lead controls engineering activities related to project design and implementation. To lead controls engineering design teams. Provide technical guidance. Ensure systems designed and supplied are CE Compliant to the Machinery Directive To produce of all associated documentation including, but not limited to, design calculations, design specifications, Method Statements and Risk Assessments, operation and maintenance manuals, and test specifications. To commission controls systems on site and to provide support to system commissioning activities and training for the end user To assist in the development of the global Dematic controls standard.General Responsibilities
To maintain the Dematic image as a top-quality, professional company, by adopting an honest, professional and attentive approach. To maintain good relationships with all internal and external customers, through the provision of a high-quality service. To liaise with other Company Departments, Customers and sub-contractors. To maintain and use wherever possible Dematic standards. To comply with the company policies. To promote personal and business continuous improvement and development of processes to achieve improved time cost and quality or project delivery.this position requires approximately 60% travel
Tasks and Qualifications:
HNC/HND in Electrical/Mechatronics/Controls Engineering as a minimum Experience in a similar role Extensive proven hands-on experience working within an industrial automation environment Advanced understanding of PLC development tools Good understanding of Electrical and Electronic technical manuals & drawings Understanding of design requirements such as Machine Directive and its standards including safety standards Good understanding of distributed control systems Extensive understanding of software testing and emulation Previous use of CAD tools Understanding of automated warehouse desirable not essential Bachelor or Master degree in Engineering-
