Senior economist – Quantitative economic analysis

The Senior Economist at Technopolis holds a pivotal role in evaluating and helping shape national and supranational policies. This position is central to the mission of delivering data-driven insights and recommendations to governmental bodies, non-profit organizations, and public agencies. The role of the Senior economist will be to provide cross-functional support in the conduct of evaluations and impact studies of public policies, sectoral and technical studies, strategic support projects and consultancy for some of our main clients in France and at the European/international level, such as the European Commission (DG GROW, DG TRADE, etc.), Bpifrance, the Directorate General for Enterprise, the Directorate General of the Treasury and the Multilateral Development Banks.
We are looking for a motivated individual who is interested in working as a senior economist, specialising in quantitative economic analysis in public sector consultancy. The candidate should have a PhD/doctorate in economics, political science, mathematics or applied statistics. We also welcome applications from candidates holding a master’s degree in the above-mentioned disciplines with 3 years of post-graduate experience in the field of economic studies.
A particular interest and professional experience in conducting studies in the fields of microeconomics (incl. microeconometrics) and labour economics is required.
Experience in evaluating European cohesion policies or studies in the field of regional economics or innovation economics is a plus.
The methods mastered are essentially quantitative (statistics applied to economics, estimation of causal treatments, input-output analysis, time series analysis, non-parametric modelling). Mastery of one or more statistical and econometric software is required (R, STATA, numpy, scipy). Knowledge of one or more geographic information systems (GIS) is an asset.
Previous experience in consulting or the public sector will be considered an asset but is not a condition of eligibility.
The candidate must have excellent communication skills and openness.
The candidate must be fluent in both French and English.
The successful candidate will contribute to national and international impact assessment studies, analyse economic trends, and develop forecasts to inform policy and decision-making processes. This role demands a high level of analytical skill as well as the ability to communicate complex economic concepts clearly to non-specialists.
She/he will also be asked to contribute to the company's development activities (drafting of offers). She/he will be part of the "Economic Analysis" thematic group but may be required to work on projects related to other policy areas as well (cohesion policy, innovation, international development).
Depending on her/his level of experience, the senior economist may be required to manage small project teams.
