The position

The Aga Khan Agency for Habitat, Pakistan invites applications for Gender Officer . The position under the structure of Emergency Gender Equity & Social Inclusion will provide support for different tasks under this mandate. It assists in the assessment, development, and implementation of activities ensuring effective inclusion and gender mainstreaming, and enhancing community resilience by integrating gender and inclusion perspectives into disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation.

There is one position each in Chitral and Gilgit-Baltistan. The incumbent will perform tasks that includes the following:

Training and Capacity Building:

Design and conduct training sessions and workshops on gender mainstreaming for staff, partners, and stakeholders under the guidance of the Manager GESI. Build the capacity of AKAHP gender focal persons, staff, and partners on gender mainstreaming in AKAHP programme areas. Programme Development and Support: Ensuring effective gender integration in all activities. Under the supervision of Manager GESI review the new funding proposals using AKDN gender markers and ensure value addition towards more inclusive and gender transformative programming Advocacy and Awareness-Raising: Develop community awareness sessions focused on gender equality and climate change, addressing the nexus between disaster risk management (DRM) and these issues. Provide training for gender focal persons/ social mobilizers to effectively conduct sessions on gender equality and inclusion. Partnership and Networking: Collaborate within the programme/ department and within the different interventions of the organization to ensure gender mainstreaming in the programme components. Participate in gender networks and forums to share best practices and learn from others. Research and Analysis: Conduct gender analysis and assessments to identify gaps and opportunities for promoting gender equality and social inclusion. Monitor and evaluate the impact of gender initiatives and report on findings. Monitoring and Evaluation: Track progress on gender-related goals and report on outcomes along with the M&E Team. Ensure the effective implementation of the AKAHP Gender and Inclusion checklist in the programme. Identify the challenges and recommendations for improvements.

The requirements

Qualification and Experience:

Minimum Masters’s degree in gender studies, Minimum 2 years of experience, ideally in an NGO setting. Must have knowledge of gender, climate change, disaster risk reduction and its impact on the social and environmental aspects. Skills and Abilities: Well-developed skills in MS Office, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Good interpersonal skills and can communicate effectively (both written and verbal) in English and Urdu. Ability to work consistently under pressure. Strong organizational and time management skills. Capable of working independently, with minimum supervision or in a team setting. Commitment to self-development and expansion of knowledge.
