The New Development & Transformation Business Division is looking for an
Equipment Development Engineer (F/M)
Context:
The mission of the Business Division New Development and Transformation (BD NDT) is to innovate and develop new technologies, equipments, products, digital solutions in connection with the new areas in which Axens wishes to expand and in connection with the move to ecological transition.
To support this new development and its deployment, the BD NDT is looking for a Equipment Development engineer reporting hierarchically to the Technology Development Manager for Equipment
Missions:
The offer involves working with the Technology Development Manager for Equipment at Axens. The main focus of the role is to propose and develop new proprietary internals/equipment for current and future Axens technologies. This includes equipment related to reactors, separators, exchangers, gas and liquid distribution, solid handling, and more. The development work covers both single and two-phase flows in various energy technologies such as oil, gas, renewable and synthetic fuels, recycling, hydrogen, combustion, and electrical furnaces.
Main Activities:
·Conduct fluid mechanics simulations by CFD internally or follow CFD work by third parties including IFPEN : This activity include to Make 3D drawings via SolidWorks, Meshing, Use of OpenFoam (via Simscale) and Fluent (or Comsol) softwares, Post processing and results interpretationincluding sensitivity analysis of results , Propose geometry improvements in coordination with Mechanical department and Technology Managers or Experts, Iterate the CFD calculation and find an optimal configuration to take into account multiple criteria includingefficiency, feasibility and cost, Ensure the calculation accuracy is correct, check the model assumption are adequate, if relevant, compare with experimental data.
Identify opportunities of improvement of existing equipment Contribute to transversality and work closely with Equipment sales team (Commercial BD) and Equipment Industrialization team (POP BD) up to the commercialization of the Equipment Participate to Homologation of new Equipment Support Technical Assistance Team (TTS BD) in case of CFD requirement on equipment implemented on site Benchmark competitors solution Define design rules for equipment for POP Teams Verify external CFD calculation (IFPEN or others)Qualification and Experience:
Education in science, master or PhD degree in Fluid Mechanics. Autonomy in CFD software usage, knowledge on two-phase flow CFD models application and reliability. Knowledge in mechanical design and metal working appreciated. Knowledge of Chemical process engineering appreciated. Fluent in English.Associated Skills:
Rigour and critical eye for analysis and comparison of scientific data in R&D reports and publications. Multitasking ability, with different studies conducted or followed at the same time. Capacity of synthesis and communication, to share information with the Technology Managers and Development Managers.
