Are you looking for a fully funded PhD opportunity in one of Europe’s leading quantum research ecosystems?


The QuanG2 programme is opening its Autumn 2026 PhD call, offering outstanding candidates the opportunity to pursue a 3-year PhD in quantum sciences, quantum technologies, and interdisciplinary quantum-related fields in Grenoble, France.


1. About the PhD opportunities


The call includes more than 30 PhD research topics covering a wide range of areas, including:

🔹 Quantum Materials

🔹Quantum Technologies and Devices

🔹Quantum Computing and Software

🔹Quantum Enabling Technologies

🔹 Interdisciplinary approaches involving quantum technologies


Candidates may apply for up to 5 PhD topics, ranked according to their preferences.


Each selected PhD fellow will benefit from:

✅ A 3-year fully funded PhD fellowship

✅ A dedicated research environment budget of up to €10,000, supporting:

  • research stays and secondments in academic or non-academic environments;
  • conference participation and research missions;
  • research equipment.


2. Eligibility criteria


The call is open to candidates who:

✔ Hold, or will obtain before 7 September 2026, a Master’s degree (or equivalent)

✔ Comply with the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) mobility rule

(Applicants must not have resided or carried out their main activity in France for more than 12 months between 7 September 2023 and 7 September 2026)

✔ Do not already hold a doctoral degree at the time of recruitment

✔ Are not currently employed by one of the QuanG2 hosting laboratories


3. Application timeline


  • Call opening: 8 June 2026
  • Webinar for applicants : 10 & 17 July from 10am to 12:30pm (paris time)
  • Application deadline: 7 September 2026 – 12:00 PM (Paris time)
  • Phd contract will start between 1st February and 1st June 2027.

5. About QuanG2


QuanG2 is an international doctoral programme coordinated in Grenoble, France, and supported by the European Commission through the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) COFUND scheme.

The programme is co-financed by national initiatives including QuanTEdu-France (France 2030) and LabEx QuantAlps (IDEX).

QuanG2 aims to recruit and train 28 PhD fellows who will contribute to the development of quantum sciences and technologies within a world-class research environment.
