The role centers on building trusted relationships, shaping design solutions for everything from one room to a full home, and using a mix of design knowledge, client service, and technology to bring those ideas to life.

You will work with customers in the store, during in-home consultations, and through virtual channels. The position combines creative design support with sales activity, follow-up, and strong in-store presence. Success in the role depends on keeping an eye on current trends, understanding product details, and working closely with store and design teammates to support business goals.

What you'll do

  • Increase sales while delivering a standout customer experience across in-store, in-home, and virtual interactions.
  • Develop polished customer concepts using approved design tools, including mood boards, 2D and 3D floor plans, product selections, and presentations.
  • Run design consultations in person or through email, phone, and virtual meetings.
  • Complete projects within expected timelines and deliver work on schedule.
  • Stay aligned with the brand’s visual direction and merchandising approach across store, e-commerce, and catalog channels.
  • Keep up with product knowledge, including features, care details, competition, and broader industry trends.
  • Meet individual targets for sales, KPIs, service, and productivity while engaging customers on the sales floor.
  • Listen carefully to customer needs and recommend products and loyalty offerings such as designer rewards, the Design Trade Program, and credit card options.
  • Provide friendly, efficient service that reflects a positive attitude and a strong customer-first mindset.
  • Help train others on design services so the team has a clear understanding of offerings and processes.
  • Build long-term client relationships through networking and ongoing clienteling.
  • Use design fundamentals such as spatial planning, fabric selection, lighting, and interior style knowledge to guide recommendations.
  • Communicate clearly and promptly, translating both the brand vision and customer needs into practical design solutions.
  • Work comfortably with technology such as 2D/3D tools, Google Workspace, video conferencing, iPad tools, and floor-planning software.
  • Stay current on design trends and adapt quickly as the business changes.

Experience and skills

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of relevant experience in furniture sales, home decor design, retail, or customer service. Experience working closely with clients to recommend solutions is important, and familiarity with Google platforms, virtual communication tools, and design software is preferred.

  • Support training and communication around design services.
  • Partner with store and design teams to help achieve shared goals.

Requirements
