ABOUT PEOPLES FORTUNE

Peoples Fortune is an independent luxury fashion brand based in Paris. We develop premium denim and ready-to-wear with specialist partners in Verona, Italy, using fabrics from Japanese and Italian mills (Kurabo, Kaihara, Kuroki, Candiani, Berto and more).

We are a small team. Interns work directly with the founder — not in a large corporate internship programme.

THE ROLE

Product Development & Design Intern

You will work across the full product cycle: from research and design through tech packs, sampling, fittings, wash development and production follow-up. This is a hands-on role. You will not be fetching coffee — you will be inside the work.

RESPONSIBILITIES — PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

• Tech packs — Build complete tech packs in Illustrator: measurements, construction, stitch specs, BOM (bill of materials), care labels and colour references. These are the documents manufacturers work from.

• Sampling — Track proto, SMS and production samples through Verona sewing houses. Log comments, photograph issues, write revision notes. First sample rarely fits — you learn why.

• Fit sessions — Assist live fittings: pin, measure, photograph, document. Translate what you see on the body into clear instructions for the atelier.

• Wash development — Communicate wash targets with Italian laundries (stone, enzyme, bleach, tint) — partners also used by leading luxury houses.

• Manufacturer communication — Email and call Italian ateliers in Verona. Write precise briefs. Learn the language of production.

• Pattern support — Work with pattern makers on corrections (armhole, rise, leg opening, belt position). Read patterns and understand construction logic.

• Quality control — Inspect samples and production against spec: stitch consistency, wash uniformity, hardware placement, labels.

• Production follow-up — Track orders through manufacturing: quantities, timelines, quality checks. Learn how a PO becomes finished goods.

• Shipments & logistics — Learn import/export of fabrics and finished goods (Italy, Japan → warehouse Lille).

• Costing awareness — Fabric consumption, CMT costs, trim pricing, MOQs. Design decisions have numbers behind them.

RESPONSIBILITIES — DESIGN & RESEARCH

• Collection research — Mood boards, silhouette development, references

• Sketching & technical flats in Illustrator

• Fabric sourcing — Swatches from Japanese and Italian mills; build swatch libraries

• Trim & hardware — Buttons, rivets, zippers, labels, belt hardware (Tessport, Spring85 and more)

• Belt development — Leather, stud layout, buckle hardware (made in Italy)

• Line sheets and lookbook support

WHAT YOU’LL LEAVE WITH

• Portfolio work beyond mood boards: tech packs, flats, fit documentation, swatch libraries

• Direct contact with mills, sewing houses and laundries used by luxury fashion

• Understanding of the full process: idea → fabric → sample → production → warehouse

PROFILE

• Fashion Design / Product Development / Pattern Making student (or recent graduate)

• Strong taste and attention to detail

• Illustrator required; Photoshop / InDesign a plus

• English required · French a plus · Italian a plus

• Curious, organised, proactive — comfortable in a small, fast-moving brand

• Based in / able to work from Paris

• Location: Paris (8th) — flexible / mobile setup across the city

• Manufacturing exposure: Verona, Italy
