Duties:

Reports directly to the Design and Print Center supervisor. Is responsible for the day-to-day operation of printing copiers in the Design & Print Center.

Is responsible for printing (aswell as binding, laminating, and cutting) requirements from Protocol Office, Front Office, Mission Officers, two Consulates, four American Presence Posts and approximately 50affiliated agencies.

Provides expertise on graphic design reproduction, helps the design supervisor on graphic design and layout solutions. Responsible for printing variouspublications issued by the Department for the Ambassador and high-ranking officials in France.

Printing Services

Independently analyzes work necessary on incoming requests for printing services. Establishes priorities with colleagues in the Print Shop and gives importance to teamwork. Following briefs, provides customer with drafts for approval. Provides graphic and technical expertise on project. Meets requirements and expectations as discussed and agreed upon with customer. Respects and applies U.S. Government branding to all projects and meets deadlines.

Coordinates with Protocol Office and prepares official invitations and/or menus (digital or print) for specific events for the Ambassador, DCM, or Mission Offices.


Uses different machines - digital printers, copiers, binders, cutters, perforators, and finishing machines for printing, and assembles brochures, business cards, name tents, forms, tickets, letterheads, posters, cards, booklets, flyers, pads, as well as visa forms for the Embassy's Consular Section and the two CGs in France.

Duties include printing, cutting, mounting material for exhibits.

Miscellaneous Duties


Maintains working relationships with digital printer and cutter manufacturers to ensure the maintenance on all machines is performed regularly and monitored to produce maximum efficiency.

Monitors stock/supply levels and communicates what needs to be ordered to supervisor. Helps supervisor on creative projects utilizing Adobe Creative Suite software. Binds booklets using specialized binding machinery, packages and prepares completed printed material for mailing. Assignments may be digital graphics only.

EXPERIENCE:

A minimum of two years experience as offset / digital press operator and desktop publisher in professional print industry is required.


JOB KNOWLEDGE:
Familiarity with the prepress procedure in graphic design production.

Solid knowledge of the printing process :
layout, typography and color reproduction. Soli d knowledge on operating all machines in a print shop, mainly digital printer, laminator, binder and cutter. Good knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, lnDesign, Illustrator), Microsoft Office and Publisher. Basic knowledge of U.S. Government administrative procedures.

Completion of Secondary School or Local Mandatory Schooling and received high school diploma is required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


Ability to operate on various types of print shop machinery and peripheral equipment including collator, binder, folding machine, cutter, perforator, digital printer (scanning included) and laminator.

Ability to cut and mount posters for exhibits. Assists design supervisor on layout and design if needed. Ensures good quality service, and is customer oriented. Ability to set priorities. High quality accuracy skills required, with attention to detail. Follows safety precautions in printing, cutting, assembling. Ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.

SALARY:

the annual gross salary includes: the profit-sharing allowance, the vacation allowance, the bonus allowance and the "Comité d'Entreprise" allowance.


MEAL TICKETS:
Meal tickets have a face value of EUR 8.25/day. 60% of the daily amount is paid by the U.S. Government. An employee contribution of EUR 3.30 per ticket will be deducted in payroll. The number of meal tickets is limited to 202 workdays per year.

TRANSPORTATION:

Employees are eligible for a reimbursement of 50% of the cost of public transportation passes purchased for commuting purposes.


HOLIDAYS:
The U.S. Missions in France observe eleven U.S. holidays per year and up to ten French holidays.
