Job Summary:
The Global IT Director is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing the entire IT function on a global scale. This role entails strategic planning, implementation, and maintenance of IT systems that support and enhance retail operations, customer engagement, and business growth. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a deep understanding of the retail industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute the global IT strategy aligned with the company’s retail objectives and overall business goals.
- Identify and evaluate emerging technologies to drive innovation and competitive advantage in the retail sector.
- Collaborate with executive leadership to integrate IT initiatives with business strategies.
IT Operations Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of IT services.
- Manage global IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, databases, and cloud services, to support retail operations.
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and security of all IT systems and applications.
Project Management:
- Lead and manage large-scale IT projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams to implement new retail technologies, such as e-commerce platforms, POS systems, and inventory management solutions.
- Monitor project progress and address any issues or risks that may arise.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of IT professionals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.
- Recruit, retain, and develop top IT talent to support the company’s growth and technological needs.
- Promote collaboration and knowledge sharing across the IT team and other departments.
Budget and Vendor Management:
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
- Negotiate and manage relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
- Evaluate and select software and hardware solutions that meet the company’s retail requirements.
Security and Compliance:
- Ensure the implementation of robust cybersecurity measures to protect company data and IT assets.
- Maintain compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards related to IT and data protection.
- Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.
Data Management and Analytics:
- Oversee the management of retail data, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and security.
- Implement data analytics tools to provide actionable insights for business decision-making.
- Support the development of data-driven strategies to enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or MBA is highly desirable.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in IT leadership roles within the retail industry.
- Proven track record of managing large, global IT teams (around 500 employees).
- Experience with implementing retail-specific technologies such as ERP (SAP) systems, CRM platforms, e-commerce solutions, and POS systems.
