Senior project engineer / installation method job description

The main task of the Method Engineer is to define the methodology for carrying out the work, list the necessary equipment, the associated resources, the detailed schedule of the work, etc.
This person also provides cross-functional support during the tender phase (quotation, costing, planning, etc.).
This future employee may also be deployed on a project, depending on the needs of the company, and potentially be required to travel to the work site.

Main responsibilities/tasks
  • Gather the necessary information concerning the operation to be carried out (initial state and expected final state) and on the conditions for carrying out this operation,
  • Identify the different possible methods to carry out the operation,
  • Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each method,
  • Eliminate methods that do not ensure an adequate level of safety of people, equipment or the environment,
  • Select and present to the committee the method to be used for the type of operation 
  • Present, argue their recommendations, identify steps to carry out an operation,
  • Work in synergy to set up the studies necessary to verify the method and provide the necessary information to the design engineers to carry out the expected analyses,
  • Identify the conditions to be met to initiate the operation (preparatory work and/or weather conditions)
  • Participate in the drafting of technical offers,
  • Identify and list the installation aids, equipment and personnel necessary for operations,
  • Define the estimated durations of the operations,
  • Participate in the preparation and presentation of risk reviews of the operations he/she is responsible for
  • Prepare specifications/specifications for the scope of suppliers/subcontractors and launch consultations if necessary,
