About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 13 The Team: The Government Methodologies team drives analytical excellence through the development of world-class frameworks used by rating analysts globally. Our collaborative team of CSMEs and modeling experts' partners closely with ratings practice leadership to deliver innovative criteria solutions for the Governments sector. We operate in a dynamic, cross-functional environment where strategic thinking meets practical application, fostering both professional growth and market leadership. The Impact: As a CSME reporting to the Head of Government Methodologies, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of criteria development. Your work will directly influence global rating standards and analytical frameworks, ensuring S&P Global maintains its position as the industry leader. You will drive methodological innovations that enhance analytical excellence, strengthen transparency, and improve operational efficiency for rating analysts worldwide, while providing expert guidance on complex analytical challenges. What You Stand to Gain: Strategic partnership opportunities with senior analytical leaders across the company on complex analytical topics Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams to promote best practices and deliver strategic initiatives Global exposure to diverse asset classes and international markets Professional development in methodology design, stakeholder management, and executive presentation skills Industry recognition as a thought leader in government sector analytics Responsibilities: Lead the development and approval of criteria artifacts that support analytical consistency and credit stability Build and maintain strategic relationships with key internal stakeholders including Sector Leads, Analytical Managers, AOCCs, and MSMEs Monitor and analyze market trends, risks, and emerging opportunities including climate, cyber, supply chain, and AI impacts Provide expert guidance to practices on criteria application and deliver targeted training programs Systematically assess criteria fitness for purpose through performance analysis, calibration reviews, and market trend evaluation Drive efficient project execution by establishing clear plans, timelines, and resource allocation for successful completion Engage diverse stakeholders globally to ensure successful project implementation and stakeholder buy-in Present to executive leadership including Criteria & Model Governance Committee and Board of Managers Ensure regulatory compliance through examiner interviews and adherence to requirements Champion thought leadership through publications and external commentary responses All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week. We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer. What We're Looking For: Basic Required Qualifications: Deep expertise in Government Sector analytics, particularly Sovereigns, Multilateral Lending Institutions, and International Public Finance Comprehensive understanding of Government Criteria and analytical models Advanced relationship-building capabilities with proven ability to collaborate and influence diverse stakeholder groups at all organizational levels Strategic thinking skills to balance analytical excellence with practical implementation feasibility Exceptional project and organizational management experience with complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives Graduate degree in Business, Finance, Financial Engineering, or related field A S&P employee at this level typically has 12+ years of financial services experience with focus on credit analysis and methodology development Additional Preferred Qualifications: Extensive knowledge of S&P ratings processes and systems, including regulatory requirements and complex parameter assessment Working expertise in credit rating methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative model applications Global organizational experience in complex, multi-cultural business environments Proven track record of challenging status quo and implementing creative solutions in complex analytical areas About S&P Global Ratings At S&P Global Ratings, our analyst-driven credit ratings, research, and sustainable finance opinions provide critical insights that are essential to translating complexity into clarity so market participants can uncover opportunities and make decisions with conviction.
