Job Summary

Establishes operational objectives, policies, procedures and work plans and delegates assignments to subordinates. Develops, modifies and executes company policies that affect immediate operations and may also have company-wide effect. Accountable for department budget which has a broad impact on the business segment.

Responsibilities

  • Manages experienced level professionals and/or may be responsible for subordinate managers
  • Manages team to work safely, effectively and with high regard to human error avoidance
  • Manages personnel details including salaries, positioning, hire/fire, reviews, coaching, and development
  • Leads in project management and incident resolution
  • Plans, coordinates, approves budgets, and implements resources to complete projects and maintenance within the data centers
  • Overall site and/or multi-site capacity management
  • Manages the team to ensure completion to Equinix's required standards, (KPI's) Key Performance Indicators and (SLA's) Service Level Agreements
  • Ensures correct processes are followed and all documentation is complete
  • Takeover of new builds and building infrastructure
  • Approves all (MOP) Maintenance Operation Protocol scripts and permits
  • Participates as part of the new facility/infrastructure design team
  • Communicates and coordinates activities and on-site staff during a complex or severe customer-impacting incident
  • Drives root cause analysis and provides a clear direction
  • Drives approval for incident resolution

Qualifications

  • Proven years of related experience or equivalent work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Bac+2 to +5 in a technical field (electronics, HVAC, fire safety, physical security, building management)
  • Confirmed experience in similar functions, ideally in a similar environment of sensitive facility operations
  • Very good written and oral English, capable of managing crisis communication with all internal and external stakeholders and drafting detailed incident reports
  • Attention to detail, rigor, ability to communicate with third parties and internal clients, sense of responsibility and customer service
