The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.
As a TMR Transducer Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of TMR transducers for magnetic sensor products. As a member of the Grenoble TMR technology centre, you will contribute to product development by working closely with design, system, and layout engineers. This role is ideal for a motivated engineer with initial experience or a recent Ph.D. graduate looking to apply advanced physical concepts to industrial semiconductor solutions.
Key responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Perform the design of TMR transducer and their physical layout. Learn to derive basic specifications from high-level requirements and datasheet parameters.
- Simulation & performance analysis: Run simulations (using MATLAB, Python, or other tools) and uses characterization data to analyse TMR transducer interactions with silicon. Apply theoretical knowledge of magnetism to solve design challenges.
- Process Compliance: Execute design tasks following defined procedures to ensure product performance, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
- Technology Integration: Support the integration of TMR technology innovations from R&D into transducer designs through performance analysis and data feedback.
- Continuous Improvement: Participate in analysing the limitations of existing transducers and provide data-driven feedback to support the TMR roadmap.
- Project Support: Maintain assigned project timelines and provide regular updates. Exercise judgment within defined practices to determine appropriate actions.
- Collaboration: Build productive internal relationships. Act as a technical resource within the team for magnetism-related topics.
Qualifications & Experience
- Ph.D. in Physics, Magnetism, Electrical Engineering or related field (New Graduate welcome) or Master’s degree in engineering or Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of related experience.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in magnetism, spin electronics, and magnetic thin film properties.
- Process Knowledge: Basic understanding of semiconductor fabrication and magnetic thin film process integration.
- Tool Proficiency: Proficiency in data analysis, design of experiments, and statistical tools. Experience with MATLAB and/or Python is highly desired.
- Critical Thinking: Ability to think in an organized and rational manner to understand connections between physical concepts and design facts.
- Communication: Fluent in English. Ability to organize written and oral ideas clearly for technical reviews.
- Supervision: Ability to work effectively under general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new assignments.
