Managing engineers is a different job from being one. You already know that. What you're looking for now is a place where that job is treated as a craft in its own right, with the room and the trust to do it properly.
At Welcome to the Jungle, we build the tools companies use to hire better: employer branding, sourcing, job matching and an ATS, all in one suite. Around 260 people between Paris and London, a product used by thousands of companies, and an engineering organisation where managers are expected to lead, not to be the most available senior dev on the team.
You'll lead one squad, alongside a Product Manager and a Designer. You own three things: what the team ships, how well it's built, and how the people in it are doing.
We call the technical side of this role eyes-on, not hands-on. You read the code, you challenge architecture decisions, you hold the line on testing, CI/CD, observability and clean releases. But you're not the one shipping features. Your impact shows up in your squad's results, not in your commit history. If that distinction feels like a demotion, this role isn't for you. If it feels like relief, keep reading.
Lead one squad and own delivery, quality and team health
Turn strategy into a roadmap the team can realistically hold, and say out loud what you're trading off when you do
Stay close to technical decisions, architecture and code quality through reviews and regular check-ins
Hold the line on testing, CI/CD, observability and clean releases, and track the KPIs that matter
Run 1:1s that people don't cancel, give feedback that's actually usable, and handle performance conversations without waiting for review season
Recruit, onboard and grow engineers, and push seniors to mentor rather than hoard
Keep operational rigour real: risk management, incident response, post-mortems that change something
Handle internal support requests and follow up when you say you will
Bring AI and developer productivity tools in where they measurably help, and leave them out where they don't
Work with the other Engineering Managers, Staff engineers and the VP Engineering to build processes that scale beyond your own squad
Up to 75% reimbursement of your Navigo pass
Meal vouchers
Alan health insurance
Hybrid work environment
Regular social events
